Day 4705: Have A Bad Day Day

Happy Have a Bad Day Day, everybody!

.

I can appreciate any day that encourages people to accept all feelings, including negative ones, and to be authentic.

I am going to celebrate Have a Bad Day Day by (1) presenting to a smaller group of doctors than expected about my facilitating groups for them and (2) going back to see a doctor who, so far, has not been able to help me with the annoying clicking noises I hear whenever I speak.

Many of us have been having more bad days since the last USA presidential election.

In my Coping and Healing group on Monday, we talked about the differences between a good day and a bad day. In yesterday’s group, we talked about the importance of realizing that some days are going to be badder than others.

Here are the rest of my images for Have a Bad Day Day.

Here’s what I find when I search for “have a bad day day.”

.

Thanks to all who make my bad days better, including YOU!

Day 4698: The Inner Child

People have been talking about the inner child in my Coping and Healing groups, so I just googled “The Inner Child.”

.

One of my patients gave me a great compliment this week when they said, “Ann is a good friend to my inner child.”

I’ve done my own inner child work in therapy over the years, including EMDR. My inner child is scared about appearing on a podcast this Friday; my adult self knows we will be okay.

Do you see the inner child in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “the inner child” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all those who have an inner child, including YOU!

Day 4686: The Breaks

Recently I dropped and broke the lid of a beautiful ceramic box a patient made for me many years ago. When I glued the break together, I thought about how things can be strongest at the broken and mended parts.

.

I have many scars from breaks and now that lid with my name has one, too.

Here’s a quote from Ernest Hemingway about breaks:

Years ago, a fellow social worker told my Coping and Healing group that she reframed her regret about breaking a prized possession by thinking it was always broken. We wrote “the vase was always broken” on a large list of “What Helps” in my old office.

I just took a break from this blog by looking for a photo of that and I couldn’t find it. However, I did find this photo of an old “What Helps” list.

.

Them’s the breaks!

I’d like to think I get breaks from worry when I sleep, but last night I had an anxiety dream about work. Today, I’m going to take a break from my usual work appearance by wearing this elaborate Halloween costume:

.

Are there any breaks in my other images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “breaks” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to Dr. Steven Hayes, Ernest Hemingway, all my patients, social workers and other healers, cool cats everywhere, and all who are here for these breaks, including YOU!

Day 4652: Fun

It’s been fun using GarageBand to create a recording of my original song “Artificial Intelligence.” On the different tracks, I sound like I’m having fun, which is great.

I’ve also been having fun facilitating my Coping and Healing groups, where the members feel safe enough to cry AND laugh.

I try my best to find the fun even during un-fun and dys-fun-tional times like these.

This is how the Daily Bitch has fun:

.

This is me having fun:

.

On World Tourism Day, I’m having fun remembering that my son told me that I seem like a tourist no matter where I am, which speaks to how I have fun.

Here’s what I find when I search for fun on YouTube.

.

How do you have fun?

Day 4649: Getting Out

Yesterday, people in my therapy group talked about getting out of toxic relationships and about fears that stop them from getting out of the house.

Years ago, I made this button for one of my patients who was having trouble getting out of situations she didn’t want to be in.

.

Many people have been considering getting out of my country since our last Presidential election.

Getting out for a walk each day helps me keep going. Soon, the great egrets I love will be getting out of the marshes and flying south. J

oan, our cat, who will not be getting out of her annual vet visit today, loves getting out of the house on her harness.

There’s no getting out of my sharing my other images now.

.

Here’s my song about getting out of the house.

.

Here is Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue from last night after getting out of his temporary suspension.

.

There’s no getting out of my gratitude for wonderful people like you!

Day 4613: Bothering others

I have a fear of bothering others, even when others tell me they are not bothered by me.

For example, I have been hesitant to push my album release this Friday on social media and in emails for fear of bothering others.

Today, I’m telling myself this:

“I’m not bothering people — I’m inviting them. Every time I share about my album, I’m just opening a door. Whether they walk through is up to them.”

Here’s an email I’m going to bother — I mean invite — people with today.

I hope I’m not bothering others by sharing my images for today.

.

That seems like a good Daily Bitch about bothering others.

I didn’t mind bothering others in the audience to introduce me at my live concert at the Lilypad on June 1, 2025, as you can see in this video:

.

Am I bothering others by asking for comments, below?

Day 4607: Outsiders

Yesterday, in a therapy session, somebody talked about feeling like an outsider. We discussed how they had felt that way since they were very young.

I believe that most of us feel like outsiders and that’s why I asked this question last night on social media.

.

In my Coping and Healing groups, people who might feel like outsiders connect and realize they are not alone. Today, I’m mourning one of the long-time participants who has passed away.

Before I knew that she was gone, I dropped one of my pills, which landed on its side.

.

Thinking that was outside usual occurrences, I asked ChatGPT about it.

.

There are so many lightening strike moments in this life and I feel like I’ve been struck by lightening now. Today, I’ll start letting the other group members know that our dear departed member has passed.

Do you see outsiders in my other images for today?

.

I wonder if other lefthanders feel like outsiders sometimes?

Here’s what I find when I search for “outsiders” on YouTube:

.

My deepest gratitude to all who are here for this “outsiders” post, including YOU.

Day 4564: Spend time on what matters most

Because there is so much I want to do during the years I have left, it’s sometimes difficult to prioritize; therefore, advice like “spend time on what matters most” is very helpful.

.

I saw that sign yesterday at work, where I spend time on what matters most by offering immediate access to mental health support with my Coping and Healing groups.

This past weekend, I was able to spend time on what matters most by performing at a women’s rights rally. Here’s a video of that performance:

.

This July 4, if there is a protest near where I’ll be with friends on the Cape, I will try to spend time on what matters most there, too.

Now, let’s spend time with what matters most in today’s images.

.

Every day, I spend time on what matters most by creating this blog for me and YOU.

Day 4517: Safe Spaces

People in my Coping and Healing groups talk about how these groups provide safe spaces to share, to be vulnerable and to learn that they are not alone. They also comment on the lack of other safe spaces.

I am very gratified to provide a safe space six days every week. I also wish more safe spaces were available to all.

Do you see safe spaces in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for safe spaces.

.

I hope the comment sections in this blog are safe spaces for people to express themselves.

Thanks to all who are here for this safe-spaces post, including YOU!

Day 4483: What I don’t want to do today

What I don’t want to do today includes:

  • Re-checking my INR, which was very high after my trip to Italy,
  • Giving a presentation about my groups at 9 AM, and
  • Looking at the news.

What I DO want to do today includes:

  • Facilitating a group at 11:30 AM,
  • Being with creatures I love, and
  • Blogging.

.

What I don’t want to do today also includes overthinking anything, including the images I have to share with you, here and now.

.

What I don’t want to do today is focus too much on soulless, narcissistic, and greedy people who keep wanting more and more as they damage our world.

This is the first thing that comes up on YouTube when I search for “what I don’t want to do today.”

.

.

Thanks to my friend Debbie (who sent me the cat texts cartoon), cats, my husband Michael for the delicious salad (I gained a lot of weight in Italy!), my friends on Twitter, everybody who is huggable, Bruno Mars, and — of course! — YOU.
