I have a fear of bothering others, even when others tell me they are not bothered by me.
For example, I have been hesitant to push my album release this Friday on social media and in emails for fear of bothering others.
Today, I’m telling myself this:
“I’m not bothering people — I’m inviting them. Every time I share about my album, I’m just opening a door. Whether they walk through is up to them.”
Here’s an email I’m going to bother — I mean invite — people with today.

I hope I’m not bothering others by sharing my images for today.

.
That seems like a good Daily Bitch about bothering others.
I didn’t mind bothering others in the audience to introduce me at my live concert at the Lilypad on June 1, 2025, as you can see in this video:
.
Am I bothering others by asking for comments, below?
Thanks to all who are here for this “bothering others” post, including YOU!

Push your album Ann! You deserve recognition! You never bother me! I love your songs, your images, your writing! <3
You are so supportive and helpful, Carol Anne!
Where do you think this fear of bothering people came from? Not asking just because I’m nosey but because I have a similar fear. I don’t fear bothering people with an email because I figure they can open it on their own time or not at all, their call. But I don’t like calling people or stopping by. Knocking on doors for a political candidate was a nightmare for me. Never doing THAT again! I think I was raised to be quiet and not bug my dad in particular. Because he had worked all day, you know. 🙂 But you should promote your CD for sure! No one is ever bothered by music!
I think we both got that message “don’t bother me!” when we were young. I also think women tend to worry about bothering people more than men do.
Great introduction, Michael!
I agree!
Exciting. Good luck with it.
Thank you!
very exciting and just consider it an invite and go from there )
I am going from there, beth, and thanks!
I know just what you are talking about. In my case, I had the “bothering others” drummed into me early on. My mother seemed to be always certain that her children were “bothering” others. Even when I was invited somewhere, she would tell me they were only being polite, so I learned to be suspicious of invitations and nervous about accepting them. I think it’s a Norwegian/Lutheran kind of thing. 🙂
When it came to promoting my novels, of course, I had that problem in spades. I even hesitated talking about them. “They’ll just think I’m trying to sell them something.” The biggest promotion I do every year are free giveaways offered by Amazon that I sign up for 3 times. I’m much more comfortable giving things away than I am selling them.
You should bang the drum loudly, Ann. I’ll help when I can (sharing your links on my social media). Much better at promoting others. I wish I could stop hearing my mother remonstrate that I’m just trying to call attention to myself. Sigh.
I hear you Barbara, and can relate. And thanks for your support and kindness!
It was wonderful seeing so many varied responses to the question “What’s something you appreciate about yourself?” It makes me happy when people see good things about themselves. And your songs are a very good thing and I’m glad you’re sharing them.
There are so many varied things I appreciate about you, Chris.
