Day 4807: Self soothing

Because I want to do no harm to myself and others, I practice self soothing every day.

Do you see self soothing in this blog post’s images?

.

My self-soothing includes staying in the moment and writing songs like this one:

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “self soothing” on YouTube:

Thanks to all who help me with self soothing, including YOU!

Day 4713: Stories

Somebody in yesterday’s Coping and Healing group said they wished they had been taught the real story of Thanksgiving when they were in school. In the same group, people also shared stories of their favorite memories of Thanksgiving.

The Thanksgiving stories I told included leaving after the meal to volunteer at a suicide hotline for eight hours, so I could listen to other people’s stories.

What stories do you see in my images for today?

I notice some conflicting stories there; do you?

I keep trying to get my musical stories out there while also staying in the moment.

.

I look forward to any stories you choose to share in the comments section, below.

I give thanks for all who are here for my daily stories, including YOU!

Day 4670: Beyond time

Yesterday, in my Coping and Healing Group, we tried to go beyond time in a mindfulness exercise. I suggested that people go beyond their usual focus on time (what time is it? how much time has passed? how much time do I have?) and stay in the moment.

One of the group members had their volume turned down and did not hear the chime to end the mindfulness, so they thought the exercise had gone way beyond time. Other people spoke about how difficult it was to go beyond time in one’s mind.

I may have gone beyond time in this introduction, so here are my images for today.

.

The Daily Bitch is beyond time.

Here’s what I find when I look for “beyond time” on YouTube;

.

And here’s my song about going beyond time — “Stay in the Moment.”

.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time for this beyond-time post, including YOU!

Day 4588: Self care

In the midst of caring for others, I am doing my best to practice self care.

Part of my self care is creating these blog posts every day. Another part of my self care is not agonizing over what to include in each post.

I would like to extend that self care to not agonizing over anything.

.

Here’s one of my songs about self care, which I am may not include in my live album.

.

How do you practice self care?

Thanks to all who help me with self care, including YOU!

Day 4202: Where are you living?

My friend Mary — who attended both my shows at the Lilypad in Cambridge where she heard my song “Stay in the Moment”— sent me this yesterday:

.

Where are you living? Can you tell where I’m living by my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “where are you living?” on YouTube.

.

Thanks for being here now, no matter where you are living.

Day 3958: Nostalgia

In last night’s Coping and Healing group, people talked about the power of nostalgia, sharing comforting memories of kids’ games and old TV shows.

While I am well aware of the healing power of nostalgia, I also encourage people to stay in the moment. I believe we need a healthy balance of the past, the present, and the future.

Do you see nostalgia in today’s blog post?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “nostalgia” on YouTube.

.

What are your thoughts and feelings about nostalgia?

Nostalgic thanks to all who read my blog, including YOU!

Day 3940: This too shall pass

When I was talking to a dear friend last week, she told me that what helped her was remembering that her current problems would change, that “this too shall pass.” I said that when I think “this too shall pass,” my assumption is that things will get better, but my husband’s twin brother’s version of “this too shall pass” is “Enjoy what’s going on now because things are sure to get worse.”

Here’s the Daily Bitch’s version of “this too shall pass.”

.

This too shall pass, but first we have to look at my other images for the day.

.

If you don’t like this version of my most recent original song, just remember, “This too shall pass.”

.

Thanks to all who helped me create this too-shall-pass blog post, including YOU!
