Day 5026: National Storytelling Day

Yesterday, I told stories about storytellers, unaware that today was National Storytelling Day.

On National Storytelling Day, I’m working on improving my storytelling here on this blog, looking for ways to make both the text and the images more readable. In the meantime, I’m close to getting full credit for my continuous streak of daily blogging since January 1, 2013.

Because my storytelling here isn’t as clear, well-formatted, and interesting as I would like these days, I fear I may lose some readers. That fear won’t stop me, however, from storytelling on National Storytelling Day.

.

The Daily Bitch is telling another interesting story on National Storytelling Day.

This is the first thing that comes up when I search for “National Storytelling Day” on YouTube:

.

Thanks for all who are here for the storytelling on National Storytelling Day, including YOU!

Day 5025: Storytellers

As one of the storytellers here on WordPress, I’m figuring out, here and now, how to tell today’s story.

Last night, I saw one of my favorite storytellers, Kathy Griffin.

.

I have a story to tell about that last photo. Before Kathy Griffin came on stage last night to tell her stories, we were repeatedly admonished about not using our cellphones during her storytelling. However, when she was telling stories about performing in Minnesota, she asked us to turn on our phones to record ourselves chanting “Fuck Ice!” five times. The people who hadn’t turned off their phones were ready to record that chanting but I wasn’t; it took too long for my phone to power up. However, I did snap that photo of a brave storyteller before turning my phone off again.

Several people kept using their cellphone during the rest of Kathy’s storytelling, but that’s another story.

I think Kathy Griffin is great storyteller because she fearlessly tells the truth about herself, celebrities, politicians, and the state of the country.

I’m a storyteller who communicates with words and pictures, so here’s the rest of the story.

.

Here’s what I find when I look for storytellers on YouTube:

.

I also find this:

Thanks to Kathy Griffin and everyone who is here for this storytellers post, including YOU!

Day 5021: Fun

Even when things are not working, I try to have fun.

When I perform my original protest song You Don’t Scare Me! next month on Which Side?, I hope to have fun.

Do I sound like I’m having fun on this recording of You Don’t Scare Me!?

.

I had fun asking this question on social media last night.

.

I’m having fun sharing these images for today.

.

Actually, it sounds like fun to be part of the problem (instead of trying to solve problems all day, every day).

Thanks to all who contribute to the fun here at this blog, including YOU!

Day 5015: Time’s Running Out

It seems like I’m always getting messages telling me that time’s running out. Maybe that’s because “time’s running out” is a standard marketing tool to inspire action.

Because we’re all mortal, yes, time’s running out. At the same time, it helps to hold the opposite thought that I have all the time I need.

Yesterday, at my cardiology appointment, I heard that time’s running out on my current pacemaker (it should last another six years). However, I didn’t hear any scary messages about how time’s running out for my very unusual heart.

Here and now, time’s running out for me to put this blog post together before I start my longest work day of the week.

Time’s running out to forward that email to 10 people!

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “time’s running out.”

.

Time’s running out for me to tell you how grateful I am for YOU!

Day 5011: Where Are You?

Where are you, here and now?

I’m at home, at the beginning of today’s blog, preparing to go into work after I share these images (which might show where I am).

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “where are you?” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to Taiye Selasie and to all who here for this where-are-you? post, including YOU!

Day 5010: Overthinking

I, like many others, have been overthinking the past and the future. I reduce this overthinking by staying in the current moment.

Overthinking also reflects fears about making the wrong decision. I do less overthinking when I trust my capacity for decision-making and realize that my “wrong” decisions are almost always reparable.

I won’t be overthinking the images I choose to share with you today.

I’m not overthinking the challenge of finding a list of the daily observations/holidays/celebrations that fit on one page.

Here’s what I find when I look for overthinking on YouTube.

.

I won’t be overthinking which video about overthinking I chose to share with you.

Thanks to all who are here for this overthinking post, including YOU!

Day 5009: Who do you think you are?

“Who do you think you are?” is

  • a challenging, judgmental question from an external or internal critic or
  • a genuinely curious question about identity and self-perception.

Who do I think I am? I am a lover of nature, a group therapist, an asker of questions, and a grateful recipient of another precious day on this earth.

Who do you think you are?

I think you are many things, including a reader of today’s blog with these images.

.

“Who do you think you are?” is a line from this song:

.

Who do you think you are? You’re someone I want to thank, here and now.

Day 5006: Ready

Are you ready for several definitions of “ready”?

.

Regarding that last definition, I’m ready to say that I don’t ever feel like I am COMPLETELY prepared for anything, but I don’t let that interfere with my doing things anyway.

That’s why I wrote the song “I Left the House Before I Felt Ready.”

.

Because I am still jet lagged from my solo trip to Switzerland, I didn’t feel ready to attend this month’s Which Side protest song teach-out last night, but I went anyway.

On October 27, I probably won’t feel ready to perform my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me” and another protest song at the next Which Side, but I’m very excited that I’ll be up on that stage.

Ready to hear host James Sullivan include me in the list of next month’s performers?

I don’t know if I’ll ever feel ready to be on the same bill with Juliana Hatfield, et. al. but I will be there!

Thanks to the Happiness Engineer, Jeev, at WordPress, I’m ready to start fixing the glitches that are interfering with WordPress acknowledging my streak of 5000+ blogging days in a row.

.

Are you ready for my other images for today? Ready or not, here they come!

It seems like many people are ready for a particular funeral.

Ready for my gratitude for all the wonderful people who help me create this daily blog, including YOU?

Day 5005: Next Steps

After taking so many new steps in Switzerland, it’s time for me to think about next steps.

Next steps for me include

  • Planning my next solo trip (Japan or Greece),
  • Preparing for my appearance in October on the protest song teach-out Which Side,
  • Realizing that I belong up on stages, mountains, and other high places,
  • Taking time every day to get my healing groups and music out there, and
  • Letting go of fear, guilt, and shame as soon as possible.

Do you see next steps in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I look for “next steps” on YouTube.

.

My next step is to thank everyone who helped me create today’s blog post, including YOU!

Day 5004: Having it all

For me, having it all means having my health, home, work, husband, son, cats, friends, original music, and travel opportunities.

Here’s the Daily Bitch’s perspective on having it all:

.

I do have the extra five pounds, a busy schedule, and anxiety and angst about the state of the USA, but I’m not having depression or debt right now.

Having it all also means I get to share the thoughts, feelings, and images I have with you every day.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “having it all” on YouTube:

.

What does having it all mean to you?

Thanks to all who are here for this having-it-all post, including YOU!
