Day 5029: What Matters

As best I can, I try to include what matters to me (and others, I hope) in this daily blog.

What matters to you in my images for today?

.

The Daily Bitch is very clear about what matters to her.

Here’s the wonderful TED talk I find when I search for “what matters” on YouTube:

.

What matters to me, here and now, is expressing my gratitude to YOU.

Day 5028: Anxious

Here and now, I’m anxious about an upcoming insurance review, a group workshop I need to give on October 17 (when I’d rather be at a No Kings protest), making mistakes, and many other things.

I was anxious when I wrote this song:

.

Now that I’ve listened to that, I feel a little less anxious.

Our cat Harley is much more anxious than our cat Joan.

.

Can you tell I was anxious when I captured the images in today’s blog?

.

The Daily Bitch and I both watch TV when we’re anxious.

I hope you’re not too anxious to leave a comment, below.

Thanks to all who are here for this anxious blog post, including YOU!

Day 5027: Stories we like to tell

In therapy, we talk a lot about the stories we like to tell. I encourage people to tell the positive stories about themselves, since we tend to remember and focus on the negative.

Do you see stories we like to tell in my images for today?

.

Apparently, the Daily Bitch isn’t interested in listening to the stories we like to tell.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “the stories we like to tell.”

.

Colleen Georges likes to tell stories similar to those I like to tell.

Thanks to all those who are here for the stories we like to tell, including YOU!

Day 5024: Unknown Blessings

Last night, when Michael brought me my tea, I got a message about unknown blessings.

.

Because I have been feeling anxious about a very action-packed October, I’m very glad to know that unknown blessings are on the way.

Let’s see if there are any unknown blessings in my images for today.

.

On Virus Appreciation Day, a virus can be an unknown blessing.

.

Here’s what I find when I look for “unknown blessings” on YouTube:

Day 5023: Less Than Perfect

It’s the end of a less-than-perfect work week, including Less than Perfect Day.

In my less-than-perfect Coping and Healing groups, we’ve been discussing dealing with the world and ourselves being less than perfect. We are always less than perfect and perfectionism gets in the way of realizing that we are still enough.

I did a less-than-perfect insurance review for a patient this week and I am hoping to still get her the therapy services she needs.

This daily blog is less than perfect and I am working with a WordPress Happiness Engineer to try to make it better. “Happiness Engineer” seems like a less-than-perfect label, but all labels are less than perfect.

ChatGPT is less than perfect and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Time to share my less-than-perfect images for today.

.

Dogs are less than perfect, too.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “less than perfect.”

.

Thanks to all the less-than-perfect people who are here for this less-than-perfect post, including YOU!

Day 5022: The cold and the dark

Every year, it’s not fun for me as we enter the cold and dark of the fall/winter season.

Indeed, it was the cold and the dark that inspired the opening of my song “Triggers.”

.

I just cheered myself up by remembering that I have successfully survived this transition to the cold and the dark 72 times before.

Do you see the cold and the dark or the warmth and the light in my images for today?

.

On Less Than Perfect Day, thanks to all who help me tolerate the imperfections of the cold and the dark, including YOU!

Day 5020: Not Working

There are so many things that are not working these days, including

  • the U.S. government,
  • the climate,
  • the media, and
  • this blog, in terms of formatting and sharing.

Last night, when I was not working, I asked a question on social media about what’s not working.

.

Can you see what’s not working in my other images for today?

.

The site where I take a screen shot of the daily lists is not working for me lately because of all of the ads there.

When sleep isn’t working for me, I listen to this, which helps me deal with what’s not working:

.

When you’re not working, I recommend listening to that helpful video of Buddhist stories.

What’s not working for you?

Even though this blog is not working for some people who are still trying to read it, I hope you can still see my gratitude for YOU!

Day 5019: Paying Attention

Lately, with the help of the book The Inner Gsme of Music, I’ve been paying attention to what’s happening in the moment when I’m performing, rather than trying too hard or judging what’s wrong.

I’ve also been paying attention to applying those principals to life in general.

Last night, I was paying attention to guitarist Pat Metheny in concert and, as usual, he was wonderful.

Soon, I’ll be paying attention to my patients at the hospital.

It’s time to be paying attention to my images for today!

.

Here’s what I was paying attention to last night:

.

Thanks to all those who are paying attention, here and now, including YOU!

Day 5018: Happy Places

I’ve been trying to expand my happy places, so that I feel happy and relaxed in places that usually make me nervous (like heights and performance stages).

I’m happy to be listening to this book, which I hope will expand my happy places when I perform my music.

.

The Inner Game method helps people increase their happy places by letting go of self consciousness and negative self talk while paying close, non-judgmental attention to performance in the moment.

Before I discovered the happy places of the inner game method this morning, I asked a question about happy places on social media last night.

.

Right here, right now, what happy places do you see in my other images I am happy to share?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “happy places” on YouTube.

.

What are your happy places?

Thanks to all who make this blog one of my happy places, including YOU!

Day 5017: Bingeing

Here’s a definition of “bingeing.”

.

I’ve been bingeing audio books lately. After finishing this book …

.

… I’ve been bingeing The Office.

Most of my bingeing is a way to get a break from other people’s suffering and the relentless insanity in the news.

As usual, I’ve also been bingeing capturing images around me.

.

Believe me, I won’t be bingeing all those observances today. After bingeing on problems all week, I’m be bingeing on peace and quiet.

Here’s what I find when I search for “bingeing” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for this bingeing post, including YOU!
