Day 4945: Voting

Last night, somebody who never got my vote lied about voting problems in an election he lost.

In November, I hope everyone will be voting their conscience and getting rid of everyone who supports and enables this toxic narcissist.

If you were voting for your favorite image from today’s blog post, what would it be?

.

Here’s what I find when I look for “voting” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to everyone who is here for this voting post, including YOU!

Day 4686: The Breaks

Recently I dropped and broke the lid of a beautiful ceramic box a patient made for me many years ago. When I glued the break together, I thought about how things can be strongest at the broken and mended parts.

.

I have many scars from breaks and now that lid with my name has one, too.

Here’s a quote from Ernest Hemingway about breaks:

Years ago, a fellow social worker told my Coping and Healing group that she reframed her regret about breaking a prized possession by thinking it was always broken. We wrote “the vase was always broken” on a large list of “What Helps” in my old office.

I just took a break from this blog by looking for a photo of that and I couldn’t find it. However, I did find this photo of an old “What Helps” list.

.

Them’s the breaks!

I’d like to think I get breaks from worry when I sleep, but last night I had an anxiety dream about work. Today, I’m going to take a break from my usual work appearance by wearing this elaborate Halloween costume:

.

Are there any breaks in my other images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “breaks” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to Dr. Steven Hayes, Ernest Hemingway, all my patients, social workers and other healers, cool cats everywhere, and all who are here for these breaks, including YOU!

Day 4153: A time you felt scared

Yesterday, in my therapy group, I invited people to tell a story about a time they felt scared.

.

For me, almost every day is a time I felt scared, but I don’t let that stop me.

Yesterday — as I went to physical therapy for my noisily clicking jaw (eeeek!) and to a singing lesson for my upcoming concert (eeeek!) — I drove through several neighborhoods where I’ve lived and gone to school (eeeek!).

Maybe because these are times I’ve felt scared, I didn’t stop to take pictures of those experiences.

Do you see any reminders of a time you felt scared in my images for today?

.

Eeeeeeeek!!!!!

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “a time you felt scared.”

.

Thanks to all who made it through a time you felt scared, including YOU!

Day 3965: Constantly right about everything

On this day, I’m thinking about people who are constantly right about everything.

.

Besides the Daily Bitch, do you see anybody who is constantly right about everything in today’s images?

.

On Forget-Me-Not Day, I do not forget to search YouTube for “constantly right about everything.”

.

I may not be constantly right about everything, but I know I’m constantly right when I end my blog posts with gratitude for YOU.

Day 3677: Out of the frying pan

Today’s Daily Bitch has a different ending for “out of the frying pan into the fire.”

It still means the same thing: going to a worse situation when trying to better your current one.

No matter how we phrase it, that’s a fear that can worry us or even paralyze us about taking action — maybe I should stay in this frying pan because if I move, it might get worse!

For example, we stayed with a malfunctioning dishwasher for months (Michael had to bail out the non-draining water every day!) and now that we finally got a new one (delivered yesterday), I’m thinking we were afraid we might be going out of the frying pan into the fire, imagining things like “What if the new one doesn’t work?” “What if the installation people scare Harley so much he gets sick?” and other fire-y thoughts. Instead, now our frying pans can go into a dishwasher that was installed easily and works great. And Harley, as you can see, is neither in a frying pan nor a fire.

Now it’s time to move out of the frying pan …

… into the rest of the images for today.

Because we’re focusing on frying pans and fires today, you might think that “Burns Supper” means something other than this:

Happy Burns Supper Day and because it’s also National Opposite Day, maybe I’ll assume that I’m going out of the frying pan into BETTER situations today.

Here’s what I find when I search for “out of the frying pan” on YouTube.

Thanks to all who accompany me as I go out of the frying pan into other places every day, including YOU!
