Here and now, I’m anxious about an upcoming insurance review, a group workshop I need to give on October 17 (when I’d rather be at a No Kings protest), making mistakes, and many other things.
Regarding that last definition, I’m ready to say that I don’t ever feel like I am COMPLETELY prepared for anything, but I don’t let that interfere with my doing things anyway.
Because I am still jet lagged from my solo trip to Switzerland, I didn’t feel ready to attend this month’s Which Side protest song teach-out last night, but I went anyway.
On October 27, I probably won’t feel ready to perform my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me” and another protest song at the next Which Side, but I’m very excited that I’ll be up on that stage.
Ready to hear host James Sullivan include me in the list of next month’s performers?
I don’t know if I’ll ever feel ready to be on the same bill with Juliana Hatfield, et. al. but I will be there!
Thanks to the Happiness Engineer, Jeev, at WordPress, I’m ready to start fixing the glitches that are interfering with WordPress acknowledging my streak of 5000+ blogging days in a row.

Are you ready for my other images for today? Ready or not, here they come!
It seems like many people are ready for a particular funeral.
Ready for my gratitude for all the wonderful people who help me create this daily blog, including YOU?
While the human brain can often focus on what is discouraging, I am choosing, here and now, to focus on what is encouraging.
What’s encouraging to me is that I seem to be past my jet lag in time to return to the work I love facilitating therapy groups.
It was encouraging to me last night that a server at my favorite restaurant asked to see photos from my solo trip to Switzerland and I had these to show him.
It’s encouraging that there may be encouraging changes in Washington D.C. before I get there in November.
Let’s see if there is anything encouraging in my other images for today.
It’s encouraging that the plumbers were able to replace the leaking fixture in the bathtub. It’s encouraging that I can travel in different countries and maintain a healthy INR.It’s encouraging that both Joan and I are back to our usual routines.
It’s encouraging that Joan has so much to say.
It’s encouraging that my Twitter friend Eric responded to my posting a video about Joan with his video about Joan:
It’s encouraging that you may be able to see Eric’s video by clicking on the above link.
It’s encouraging that my favorite local restaurant, Brassica Kitchen, has so many great dishes. It’s encouraging that the tomatoes Michael planted this year are doing so well! It’s encouraging that his other vegetables are doing well too.

Here’s an encouraging song I wrote a few years ago.

Well, folks, today — the day I fly back to the USA after the best vacation of my long life — is my 5000th day of daily blogging.
For 5000 days, I’ve woken up wondering how I’m going to yet again shape my previous day into some form that helps me and — perhaps! — others.
Blogging daily for 5000 days has strengthened my confidence that my random thoughts, feelings, and intuitively-snapped images are worth sharing.
These five thousand days have included my travels at home and elsewhere, good days and bad days, quirky moments/images I like to call “bloggy,” and my appreciation of humans, cats, and other creatures.
Yesterday, at the Lugano train station, I luckily ran into the incredible Thomas Hampson, who was the star of my 4999th day of blogging. Besides figuring out we were both on our way to Zurich, telling Thomas “You changed my life!”, letting him know that I had taken so many notes at his Master Class for opera singers because his wisdom applied to singing AND life, and identifying myself as a singer/songwriter, I also told him I had been blogging daily since 2013. Why oh why did I even mention that in the few precious moments I had to interact with one of the best singers and teachers in the world, who has one of kindest faces I have ever seen?
That reminds me that when I attended the profound one-man show about magic and identity In & Of Itself in NYC years ago, I chose to identify myself as “blogger.”
So I guess, despite all my multiple identities, blogging is important to me. As a group therapist, I appreciate the healing power of groups, and this group — you, my readers — has been very healing for me.
No matter where I go, I hold the belief that you are somehow with me and interested enough to stay for the precious moments we have together, every day.
And I hold the belief that I’ll be able to create something worthwhile and still make it to my next destination on time.
So, for the 5000th day, here we go again!
Throughout these 5000 days, it has helped me to be near water, rain or shine. I finally got fondue on my last night in Switzerland. Here’s a pun for my 5000th day: As for fondue, I’m fon-done.
On Day 1 of this daily blog, I was working on getting up the nerve to sing other people’s songs in public. Now, on Day 5000, I’m a singer-songwriter/blogger/group therapist/mother/wife/friend/heart-condition survivor who can share what’s important to me, here and now.
Thanks to everyone who helps me along this daily journey, including YOU!
still be writing these daily blog posts for me (and you!) with images like these:
Who knew that I would meet wonderful people like Robert and Tara who would delightfully distract me from the scenery on the train? Who knew that they would have an adorable dog like Koda? Who knew I’d be on the wrong car, almost miss one of my four connections yesterday, and figure it out before it was too late? Who knew that I would have such spectacular views from every hotel room on this trip?Who knew I’d be getting so many amuse bouches that would amuse my bouche so much? Who knew there were so many different types of pasta?Who knew this would be the weather in Lugano during my stay here?
.
Who knew I’d be having conversations like these with ChatGPT, especially after writing a song like “Artificial Intelligence”?
.
Who knew there were so many great things to do in Lugano?
.
Who knew I would have so many wonderful readers like YOU?
Here is a special photo from a recent Boston Globe article about Which Side?
Do you recognize the special person on the right?
Yesterday, I felt special because somebody special in my special in-person Coping and Healing group shared that my song “I Left the House Before I Felt Ready” had made them cry.
.
I did a special a Capella performance of it in group and it had the same effect.
I guess that song must be special because the special Eric Alper chose that one to share in his special playlist of the best Indie music. Here is our special communication about that.
.
It’s nice to feel special, but also scary! Here are my other special images for today.
.
Isn’t the Daily Bitch special?
Thanks to all the special people who are here for this special post, including YOU!
