People have been talking about the inner child in my Coping and Healing groups, so I just googled “The Inner Child.”

.
One of my patients gave me a great compliment this week when they said, “Ann is a good friend to my inner child.”
I’ve done my own inner child work in therapy over the years, including EMDR. My inner child is scared about appearing on a podcast this Friday; my adult self knows we will be okay.
Do you see the inner child in my images for today?

Here’s what I find when I search for “the inner child” on YouTube:

Thanks to all those who have an inner child, including YOU!

Good luck on friday! You’ll smash it! xx
My inner child is noted in the example given: panic when late for work or other human mistakes that could result in punishment. My wife calls it the perfectionist syndrome and it is absolutely something I grapple with. I have gotten better as of late, but the little doubter still whispers in my ear.
Favorite book as a child: I did not read much or well, as I am dyslexic. I hated reading aloud because I stuttered due to dyslexia, and my classmates would laugh or poke fun at me. To make matters worse, teachers would correct me when I used my finger to guide my reading. It was not until the 5th grade that the teacher recognized the issues I had. And, due to my admiration of him- a Civil War reenactor- and my older brother, who was serving in the US Army, I gravitated toward war stories that were written for young adults. The We Were There books were checked out and often returned late, as it took me longer to read them. My inner child still dislikes reading in front of people and public speaking in general.
In my head someone is always demanding an explanation for my actions, and my inner child is always trying to provide an answer.
Thanks for sharing that, Barbara.
Mine doesn’t mind visiting me, Ann.
I’m always glad when you visit, Mark!
