I can’t escape the feeling that I’ve written about escapes here before, because they are so important for mental health. We all need escapes; otherwise, we can feel stuck, powerless, discouraged.
Personally, I find no escapes, here and now, from
the cold and the dark,
my chronic health conditions,
the news,
nervousness about my upcoming concert,
aging (especially because I’m turning 71 on Friday),
and that nagging feeling that I’m forgetting something important.
Perhaps because my line is group psychotherapist, I enjoy watching the group dynamics on the show, as the panel members try to figure out people’s lines, keeping within the lines of 1950’s television propriety while saying witty, curious, and punny lines along the way.
Last night, I asked a question about lines on Twitter, and got all sorts of different answers.
.
“How are you doin’ today?” is a great line, don’t you think?
What’s my line that connects all my images for today?
.
The Daily Bitch Calendar is reminding me that my birth year was during the 1950s and that I added another line to my song about Chronic Illness.
When you have a chronic illness
You have to take your pill, yes,
And do other things you may not want to do.
Like undergo procedures which have such charming features that you sometimes need to give up blood and poo.
Why I write songs is related to why I blog every day: to connect with others through words and imagery.
Maybe I write songs because I’m a curmudgeon, a freethinker, somebody who appreciates the little things (like bubble wrap), and a person who sometimes pushes on a door that says pull.
Here’s what I find when I search for “why I write songs.”
.
Thanks to all who help me ask and answer questions like “Why do I write songs?” including YOU.
I think we all need encouragement these days, and that’s why I took this picture at our local supermarket last week.
I needed some encouragement to get myself through a difficult week, including preparing for a colonoscopy yesterday.
For decades, comedian Robert Klein has been a source of encouragement for me, and here’s an encouraging and timely song from him:
Robert Klein singing “Colonoscopy” gives me encouragement to refocus on my own song-writing and singing. Tomorrow, I have a lesson with the wonderful teacher who helped me prepare tryouts for The Voice. I’ve been feeling some fear and insecurity about performing lately, so I’m looking forward to her encouragement.
Do you see encouragement in my other images for today?
.
Where do you find encouragement?
Thanks to all those who give and receive encouragement, including YOU!
Happy National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day, everybody!
After I answered my cat’s question this morning (“Could you please feed me NOW?”) I found some information online about National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day.
.
Why does that website assume that I won’t actually be talking to my cat?
Here are my other images (and some cat questions) for National Answer Your Cat’s Question Day.
