Day 4997: Who Knew?

Who knew that I would

  • love solo travel so much,
  • learn to tolerate not knowing so well, and
  • still be writing these daily blog posts for me (and you!) with images like these:
Who knew that I would meet wonderful people like Robert and Tara who would delightfully distract me from the scenery on the train?
Who knew that they would have an adorable dog like Koda?
Who knew I’d be on the wrong car, almost miss one of my four connections yesterday, and figure it out before it was too late?
Who knew that I would have such spectacular views from every hotel room on this trip?
Who knew I’d be getting so many amuse bouches that would amuse my bouche so much?
Who knew there were so many different types of pasta?
Who knew this would be the weather in Lugano during my stay here?

.

Who knew I’d be having conversations like these with ChatGPT, especially after writing a song like “Artificial Intelligence”?

.

Who knew there were so many great things to do in Lugano?

.

Who knew I would have so many wonderful readers like YOU?

Day 4987: Fictional Characters

When I was a young girl dealing with heart problems and multiple hospitalizations, I took great solace in fictional characters. I learned about resilience, resourcefulness, adaptability, integrity, grit, kindness, and humor from my parents but also from fictional characters.

Yesterday I had two conversations with the fictional character ChatGPT about fictional characters.

One conversation was about losing my perfectionism about my upcoming trip to Switzerland. I told ChatGPT that it helped me to think I would survive even if I showed up in a foreign land like Marcus Brody did in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Here’s what ChatGPT said about that:

.

The second conversation was about which fictional characters I resembled. I told ChatGPT I hoped I was like Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice but wondered what other ones it might suggest.

.

What fictional characters do you relate to in my other images for today?

.

I really relate to the fictional character of The Daily Bitch.

Thanks to all the wonderful nonfictional characters who are here for this blog about fictional characters, including YOU!

Day 4960: Voices of Reason

Voices of reason are few and far between these days, especially if you listen to the news.

That’s the reason I asked about voices of reason on social media last night.

.

I have mixed feelings about ChatGPT but sometimes it can be a voice of reason.

.

Are there voices of reason elsewhere in today’s blog?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “voices of reason” on YouTube:

Eleanor Longden is a powerful voice of reason.

Thanks to all the voices of reason out there, including YOU!

Day 4894: Blogging

For those of you who have been watching this blog, you may know that I’ve been blogging daily for over thirteen years.

Yesterday, after I finished blogging, I told ChatGPT that I wished I could let go of the pressure I feel every day before blogging.

.

I can understand why somebody might let ChatGPT handle all the blogging (but I never will).

My blogging always includes images I choose to share.

.

It’s nice that on Nothing to Fear Day I’m reminding myself that blogging is nothing to fear.

Here is what I find when I search for “blogging” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to everyone who supports my way of blogging, including YOU!

Day 4876: Inspiring

Yesterday’s word of the day means “inspiring.”

That is NOT inspiring me to use the word “psychagogic” when I mean “inspiring,” because I want to be understood.

Do you see anything inspiring in my images for today?

My INR was surprisingly low yesterday morning, but I responded wisely without panicking, which is inspiring.
The warmer weather is inspiring me to take Joan outside.
My inspiring husband is planting many new things this year, including spinach.

.

My family is very inspiring and nice.

Here’s what I find when I search for “inspiring” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all the inspiring ones in my life, including YOU!

Day 4821: Reframing

As I’m reframing my intentions for today’s blog post, here’s a definition of “reframing”:

.

Yesterday, I was working on reframing this old narrative of mine: When I put myself out there in a new and confident way, disaster results. The “evidence” I have for this old story includes:

  • Feeling happy, powerful, and confident at age 7; soon after spending years of emotional and physical pain in hospitals because of my rare heart condition.
  • Confidently sharing my song Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole with strangers on a trip to Georgia; the next day landing on the hospital with a mini-stroke/TIA.
  • Feeling happy about my upcoming appearance on the podcast Therapist Uncensored; my next INR blood reading being inexplicably and dangerously low.

I work on reframing unhelpful, obsolete, and inaccurate narratives with myself and with my patients in therapy. These old narrative can be very sticky, so reframing can be a life-long practice.

Do you see reframing in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “reframing” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are here for my daily reframing, including YOU!

Day 4802: The Neutral Now

One way to deal with anxiety is to notice the neutral now.

Here’s how the Noom app describes the neutral now:

I’m also trying to expand my neutral now by practicing a more neutral reaction to old triggers, including “unprecedented” storms, equipment failures, and perceived rejections.

Do you notice the neutral now in any of my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find now when I search for “the neutral now” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for the neutral now, including YOU!

Day 4799: Feel the love

Yesterday, in my Coping and Healing group, we talked about feeling unconditional love in our bodies. I could feel the love in my core; other people could feel the love in their upper chests, hearts, and tummies.

During these often loveless times, it is really important to feel the love.

Can you feel the love in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “feel the love” on YouTube:

.

I hope you can feel the love in my gratitude for you.

Day 4798: That’s data

One of the coping skills I use is telling myself “that’s data” instead of leaping to unhelpful conclusions. Because we tell ourselves stories based on the past, “that’s data” helps me observe and move on.

Here’s how ChatGPT describes using “that’s data.”

.

When I gather images for this blog, that’s data.

.

.

Is that data or a story?

Here’s what I find when I search for “that’s data” on YouTube:

.

Any comments you leave? That’s data.

Thanks to all who are here for this “that’s data” post, including YOU!

Day 4792: Confused

Because I believe that most human beings have empathy and compassion, I get confused when I see deliberate cruelty.

I am most confused when I listen to the news and least confused when I facilitate my Coping and Healing groups.

I wonder if anyone will be confused by my images for today.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “confused” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for my confused blog posts, including YOU!
