Day 4851: No Fear

During fearful times, it is inspiring when someone has no fear.

.

I had no fear yesterday about taking that cue to share my protest song, “You Don’t Scare Me.”

https://artists.landr.com/you-dont-scare-me

.

I used to have fears about (1) repeating myself and (2) promoting myself, but I am trying to have no fear about that.

In my interview on the Therapist Uncensored podcast, we talked about my having no fear, but the reality is I always have fear the week before I get on a plane and travel somewhere new. I also have no fear about sharing that fear here as well as my fear about disturbing or disappointing others.

I have no fear about sharing these images for today.

I had no fear about telling social work intern Sara that I loved working with her.

.

I have no fear about finding something interesting to share on YouTube when I search for “no fear.”

.

I have no fear about expressing my love and gratitude to YOU!

Day 4674: Signs of the times

It’s a sign of the times that today’s photos are signs at yesterday’s No Kings event on Boston Common.

.

Here are signs of the times from yesterday’s No Kings event in Washington D.C.

.

Thanks to all who are paying attention to these signs of the times, including YOU!

Day 4397: Asking

I have no trouble asking people questions but I have a lot of trouble asking people to do something for me (like subscribing to my YouTube channel).

Is anybody asking for images related to asking?

.

Is anybody asking for a YouTube video about asking?

.

It’s time for me to be asking for comments, below.

Thanks to all who are here for this asking post, including YOU!

Day 4357: A Life

This morning, I finished listening to the audiobook of Mike Nichols: A Life by Mark Harris.

Mike Nichols — improv comedian, writer, stage director, and film director — had quite a life. While listening to A Life, I’ve been revisiting his routines with Elaine May as well as his many films, including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Graduate, Catch-22, Silkwood, Working Girl, The Birdcage, Wit, and his amazing version of Angels in America. In A Life, I found out that he was one of the writers of a TV special I adored as a child — Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall.

Mike Nichols was committed to living a life of creativity, connection, curiosity, excellence, and growth. He lived that life while grappling with depression, disappointment, criticism, self-doubt, and many public failures as well as successes.

I am always inspired by a life like that.

Do you see a life in my other images for today?

.

I’m so grateful that I get to live a life with Joan…

.

… and with YOU!

Day 4275: National Thank You Day

Happy National Thank You Day!

.

I would like to thank all the people who have enriched my life over the years. I’m not going to name names on this National Thank You Day, for fear of leaving somebody out. I’m also going to thank the universe for sending me so many wonderful people that I’m afraid of forgetting some, here and now!

I would also like to thank the universe for everything it sends me, including my images for today.

Day 4205: Self Care

During anxious times like these …

… self care is particularly important.

I see several opportunities for self care on that list, including chocolate, macaroni, and taking a walk with my late father.

Here’s what I find when I search for “self care” on YouTube:

Thanks to all who help me with my daily self care, including YOU.

Day 4072: Write your own Story

My dear friend Jeanette — whom I am visiting in Washington D.C. — has a bag that says “Write your own Story” …

… so I will continue to do that here, now.

Day 3900: Ideas for songs

These days, I’m trying to convert my many ideas for songs into my first album. For me, it’s much easier to come up with ideas for songs than to complete a song to my satisfaction.

Do you see promising ideas for songs in today’s blog post?

This comment refers to an actual song that came out of my ideas for songs (see here).

.

On this day, I shall attempt to fight procrastination by transforming another one of my ideas for songs into an actual song.

Here’s what I find when I search for “ideas for songs” on YouTube.

Thanks to all who help me with ideas for songs, including YOU.

Day 3756: Corybantic

Because today is Dictionary Day, what’s your guess for what “corybantic” might mean?

Before you get all corybantic trying to figure that out, here’s the answer:

Yesterday, after I gave a presentation to the nurses at my hospital about my groups which help people be less corybantic in the midst of corybantic circumstances, the power at several Boston hospitals, including mine, went out for several hours. Lest you get corybantic about how that affected patient care, I’ll remind you that hospitals are equipped to deal with such things with emergency generators and back up plans. However, I momentarily got corybantic when I couldn’t access my office computer from home, but then I realized there were work-arounds for that so I could still schedule people for my two online patient groups.

And even though we were afraid that our cat Joan would become corybantic when we put antibiotic ointment in her eyes (wouldn’t you?), the burrito technique I described in yesterdays blog post worked!

I will say that even when I have a corybantic day, blogging and sharing my thoughts with you definitely reduces my corybanticy.

Do you see anything corybantic in my images for today?

How corybantic are you feeling now? Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “corybantic.”

Corybantic thanks to all who help me be less corybantic, including YOU!

Day 3198: Safe spaces

We all need safe spaces to heal, but what spaces feel safe these days?

I’m thinking about safe spaces, here and now, because today is National GOE Day in the USA.

Do you see any safe spaces in my other images for today?

Locally, we’ll be making our home into a safe space when we repair the extensive structural damage under the upstairs shower. I’m just glad that my used-to-be-boyfriend-now-husband Michael observed water leaking outside the house before somebody fell through the floor!

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “safe spaces.”

How do you create your own safe spaces?

I hope the comments section, below, is a safe enough space where you can express your thoughts, feelings, and experiences about safe spaces.

Thanks to all who help me create a safe space here, including YOU.
