Day 4951: Talking about the Weather

I used to think that talking about the weather was a way to avoid deep conversations.

Now, not talking about the weather seems like a way to avoid and deny the existential threat of climate change.

Yesterday, I was talking about the weather because I ventured out for a walk to CVS, underestimating the fury and speed of an approaching thunderstorm. When it hit with intense winds, driving rain, and deafening thunder, I had to focus on reaching shelter as soon as possible. Luckily, a woman driving by with her daughter stopped to pick me up and drive me to CVS. Talking about the weather, this total stranger even offered to wait for me to drive me back home. That’s how bad the weather was!

I opted to stay at CVS until the storm passed so I could walk safely home. Talking about the weather, here are images of before the storm hit …

.

… and after it passed:

.

When I got back home and I finished talking about the weather with my husband Michael, I found this email from James Sullivan, the organizer of the inspiring Which Side? protest song teach-out (which I was talking about in yesterday’s blog post).

I wasn’t talking about the weather when I accepted James’s offer for me to share my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me!” at an upcoming show.

The people attending these protest song teach-outs agree: The current USA administration talking trash about immigrants and other human beings instead of talking about the weather is dangerous, unacceptable, and has to stop!

Talking about the weather, here are the rest of my images for today.

.

It seems right that I’m talking about the weather on Yada, Yada, Yada and Hot Enough For Ya Day.

Here’s what I find when I search for “talking about the weather” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are talking about the weather, including YOU.

Day 4851: No Fear

During fearful times, it is inspiring when someone has no fear.

.

I had no fear yesterday about taking that cue to share my protest song, “You Don’t Scare Me.”

https://artists.landr.com/you-dont-scare-me

.

I used to have fears about (1) repeating myself and (2) promoting myself, but I am trying to have no fear about that.

In my interview on the Therapist Uncensored podcast, we talked about my having no fear, but the reality is I always have fear the week before I get on a plane and travel somewhere new. I also have no fear about sharing that fear here as well as my fear about disturbing or disappointing others.

I have no fear about sharing these images for today.

I had no fear about telling social work intern Sara that I loved working with her.

.

I have no fear about finding something interesting to share on YouTube when I search for “no fear.”

.

I have no fear about expressing my love and gratitude to YOU!

Day 4834: Theatrical performances

I love theatrical performances and I know I’m not alone.

.

Today, I’m going to the No Kings protest in Boston to witness and partake in public performances to protect democracy. I don’t know if there will be any theatrical performances, but I may perform my protest song, “You Don’t Scare Me!”

.

Do you see theatrical performances in my other images for today?

.

I’ll be proud to be one of the millions of people showing up on Be Mad Day to show how mad we are about the dismal performances of corrupt world leaders.

Here’s what I find when I search for “theatrical performances” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are here for these theatrical performances, including YOU!

Day 4800: Luck

Is it luck that the winter storms around here always seem to threaten the one day a week I’m supposed to work at the hospital in person?

Is it luck that I have outlived the estimates for my survival with an extremely rare heart condition?

Is it luck that I never seem to get the recognition I want for my original songs?

Is it luck that I have get to facilitate six groups a week, practicing a profession that is such a great match for my skills and values?

Is it luck that nobody can seem to cure the annoying clicking sounds I hear whenever I talk?

Is it luck that I found all these images for this blog post about luck?

.

I try to improve my luck by noticing opportunities and taking them. That’s why I responded this way to a Facebook post yesterday.

.

While I’m thinking “with my luck, nothing will come of that,” I’ll keep trying to improve my luck by putting myself out there.

You’re in luck! My protest song is available here, here, and here:

I am grateful for my luck and grateful for you!

Day 4497: What, me worry?

What, me worry about whether you know where the saying “What, me worry “ comes from?

.

That’s Alfred E. Neuman, the mascot of Mad Magazine, which I read religiously when I was young. What, me worry that I was now years old when I found out some new-to-me information?

.

What, me worry about

  • waking up in the middle of the night?
  • the state of the USA and the rest of the world?
  • my health?
  • aging?
  • other people’s problems?
  • performing my protest song in front of people at rallies?
  • the images I choose to share with you today?

.

What, me worry about hairballs, penguins, East meeting West, and everything else on that list?

The reality is that worry doesn’t change anything and can make us afraid to act, so instead of worrying, take the next small step.

Here’s what I find when I search for “What, me worry?” on YouTube.

.

What, me worry about your comments?

Thanks to all who are here for this “What, me worry “ post, including YOU!
