Day 4912: Disclosures

I am the kind of psychotherapist who uses self disclosures in my groups and in individual therapy. These disclosures are in service of the patient and reflect fundamental and shared experiences. These disclosures, I hope, reinforce the healing message that no one is alone.

Yesterday, I saw the new Steven Spielberg movie Disclosure Day, which disclosed typical Spielbergian themes including the importance of empathy and transforming trauma into art.

Full disclosure: I love Spielberg movies and highly recommend this one.

What disclosures do you see in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “disclosures” on YouTube:

.

Now it’s time for my disclosures of gratitude to YOU!

Day 4541: Daring Greatly

Thanks to a recommendation by someone who reads this blog, I’ve been listening to Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.

.

Here’s a partial list of the chapters in Daring Greatly:

.

The book is helping me let go of shame and embrace my vulnerability as I am daring greatly to share my music with others, despite my inexperience in this arena.

.

Do you see anyone daring greatly in my images for today?

.

Today I’ll be daring greatly by (1) speaking to another musician I recently met about next steps and (2) looking into getting a new phone.

Here’s what I find when I search for “daring greatly” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are daring greatly every day, including YOU!

Day 4205: Self Care

During anxious times like these …

… self care is particularly important.

I see several opportunities for self care on that list, including chocolate, macaroni, and taking a walk with my late father.

Here’s what I find when I search for “self care” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who help me with my daily self care, including YOU.

Day 4197: Looking

Here’s looking at you, kid.

Without looking up the answer, what movie is that quote from?

My dear friend Janet (whom I met looking at films at Boston University in the 1980s and who was looking at my concert of original songs four weeks ago today) was looking at that very quotable movie yesterday, which I found out by looking at Facebook.

Besides great movies and dear friends, guess what I love looking at?

.

Apparently the Daily Bitch doesn’t mind looking at dust.

As I find out every day, there are so many different ways of looking at the same thing!

Here’s what I’m looking at when I search for “looking” on YouTube.

No matter what is going on in the world, I love looking at cats.

.

What are you looking at?

Thanks to all who are looking at this daily blog, including YOU!

Day 3369: What brings you joy?

In my Coping and Healing groups (which bring me joy), people have been talking about being overwhelmed by the news, fears about the future, loss, medical issues, grief, uncertainties, tasks, unknowns, obligations, other people, and possessions. Regarding the latter, several people have brought up Marie Kondo and her advice to keep only the things that bring you joy.

During these anxious and depressing times, it can be very difficult to focus on the things that bring us joy, but I’m doing my best to bring it, every moment.

Do any of my images today bring you joy?

No matter how I’m feeling, Joan definitely brings me joy (among other things).

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “what brings you joy.”

I am grateful for all those that bring me joy, including YOU!
