Day 4876: Inspiring

Yesterday’s word of the day means “inspiring.”

That is NOT inspiring me to use the word “psychagogic” when I mean “inspiring,” because I want to be understood.

Do you see anything inspiring in my images for today?

My INR was surprisingly low yesterday morning, but I responded wisely without panicking, which is inspiring.
The warmer weather is inspiring me to take Joan outside.
My inspiring husband is planting many new things this year, including spinach.

.

My family is very inspiring and nice.

Here’s what I find when I search for “inspiring” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all the inspiring ones in my life, including YOU!

Day 4786: That’s Cold

“That’s cold” can mean different things.

.

However, I think we can agree on this:

That’s cold.

Do you see anything that’s cold in my other images for today?

I lost this earring yesterday when we went out in the cold to get a delicious meal.
The seasonal salad at Comfort Kitchen. That’s cold.

.

I thought “that’s cold” when I was listening to “Now You Know” from Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along yesterday.

.

Thanks to everyone who is here for this “that’s cold” post, including YOU!

Day 4766: Obligations

Fulfilling my daily obligation of blogging for over thirteen years, I’m pretty sure I’ve written about obligations before.

Now I feel an obligation to check that out.

Yes! Here is a previous post on obligations, from my third year of blogging.

I feel an obligation to tell you to click on the link in the paragraph above if you want to access that blog post, which highlights a group therapy session. Another obligation I just fulfilled was checking my math to make sure that the post was really from my third year of blogging.

Obligations that take a moment to fulfill are very different than those that take hours. And because I’m very aware of my own mortality, I often consider getting out of those more time-consuming obligations. My sense of obligation is so strong, though, that I spend a lot of time going back on forth about what to do about those obligations.

What’s an obligated person to do? Happily fulfill my obligation of sharing today’s images.

.

Here’s an obligation I am honored to fulfill today — sharing this appearance of Dr. Martin Luther King on Meet the Press in 1965, which includes a discussion of moral obligations.

.

There is no obligation to comment on this blog post, but I hope you do.

Thanks to all who are here for this obligations post, including YOU!

Day 4728: Karass

Yesterday, somebody I’ve loved for years told me that I was in their karass.

.

Earlier in the day, I went back to an acupuncturist who might be in my karass. It was so great to see him that I wrote this to my friend Carol (who is definitely in my karass).

.

Are there karasses in my other images for today?

.

The Daily Bitch is in my karass (even though we have very different opinions about drugs).

Here’s what I find when I search for “karass” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are in my karass, including YOU!

Day 4509: Funnest

I just had fun reading an article about the word “funnest” by Bennett Kleinman, who sounds like a fun guy.

.

These are definitely not the funnest times for the USA, but I still try to have fun when I can.

I don’t know if I’ll have the funnest time today facilitating a group and then singing my protest song tonight for people who may or may not want to hear it, but I’m looking forward to it all.

Making decisions is not the funnest thing for me, and I need to decide soon which distribution platform to use in order to share my original songs on Spotify.

.

Which of my images today is the funnest?

.

Day 4453: Kludge

I sometimes get the word of the day via email and yesterday’s word was “kludge” (pronounced “kloodj”).

.

When I saw the word “kludge,”, I thought of my very unusual heart, in which the parts are assorted strangely and are performing tasks different from what they were designed for. But because I am not ill and am living a long life, I decided that wasn’t the best use of kludge.

How about this? From the kludged United States, I am now going to kludge today’s blog.

.

I’m continuing to kludge this blog post by sharing the first video that pops up for me onYouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for this kludge post, including YOU!

Day 4434: Cathexis

Cathexis is the word of the day, folks.

.

Everyone I know is experiencing Cathexis because of particular people’s unhealthy ideas and actions, to which I object.

Do you see Cathexis in my images for today?

.

Because of this Cathexis, I sometimes distract myself with cats, which I am now calling Cat-thexis.

.

I think that only the objects of my cathexis need to shut the hell up and stop promoting chaos, injustice, and destruction. I think the rest of us need to speak the hell up and act the hell up.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “cathexis” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all who are here for this cathexis post, including YOU!

Day 4399: Caliginous

This world can seem caliginous at times.

.

To deal with these caliginous times, I’ve been writing new lyrics to the song “The Age of Aquarius” from the musical Hair, which I’m calling “The Age of Nefarious.”

©️Ann Koplow, 2025

.

In case your memory of that song is caliginous, here is the opening of the movie Hair.

.

Do you see anything caliginous in the rest of this blog post?

.

A burrito is another way to deal with all things caliginous.

Thanks to those who bring light into these caliginous times, including YOU!

Day 4310: Topical

I hope my blog posts are topical, even when I’m exhausted by the current topics.

Sometimes, I’d prefer what’s tropical to what’s topical. This is one of those times.

I’m also wishing that what is topical now becomes less typical after the USA election. I’m going to do my part by voting for Kamala Harris on her birthday — today!

Here are some topical, typical, but no tropical images:

Some of those observances seem more topical than others.

Here’s one of the old and yet still topical songs:

.

I look forward to your topical comments.

Thanks to all who typically read this topical blog, including YOU!!

Day 4176: Last nerves

Now that it’s the weekend, my last nerves are finally getting some rest.

Do you see last nerves in my images for today?

Biking naked could easily get on my last nerve. It’s also getting on my last nerve that when I search for “World Bike Naked Day” I’m seeing many dates, none of them today’s.

Here’s what I find when I search for “last nerves” on YouTube.

.

Thanks to all those who do not get on my last nerves, including YOU!
