Day 4676: Statistics

Last night, I asked a question about statistics on social media. 100% of the answers were interesting and I am including less than 100% of the answers here.

.

My show biz coach suggested that I promote my music by getting on podcasts about behavioral health issues. I am happy to report that, so far, 100% of the podcasts I contacted have invited me on.

The statistics about the reach of that podcast are very impressive …

… and a good percentage of me is very nervous about appearing and also wondering if I am jinxing the whole thing by writing about it today.

I approve of 100% of the images in today’s blog post.

.

I can relate to a percentage of today’s observances as I plan on checking my meds and babbling when I introduce a small percentage of my original songs at a gathering of social workers in my hospital this evening.

Here are the two songs I will perform tonight:

https://on.soundcloud.com/c7rc9GTZr3LfydRJ7y

https://open.spotify.com/track/2DAvl5g5OCDhwvpoeGibUX?si=GyidQsTQSBqpcSlDBO0Jzw

.

The second song — “Don’t Kill Yourself” — is (1) 100% of my completely serious songs, (2) getting the most listens of all my songs on Apple Music, and (3) probably the title of the podcast episode of Therapist Uncensored I’ll be on.

Now I have to calm down some percentage of my nervous system before proceeding with this precious day.

100% thanks to all who are here for this statistics post, including YOU!

Day 4659: Smiles

Yesterday, I was talking to a social work intern about letting smiles and other facial expressions show when facilitating a therapy group. I have never been a “blank slate” kind of therapist. I am aware, however, that smiles might seem jarring to somebody who is feeling traumatized, triggered, or despairing, so my smiles disappear when I witness somebody’s pain.

I look for smiles when I share my songs like Artificial Intelligence, which will be released as a single on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. on November 7.

https://on.soundcloud.com/WaiaACHDI037JNjRi1

I hope those non-artificial percussion tracks — which I did by clicking my tongue and popping my cheek — get smiles.

The good news is that my coach Jeff Leisawitz was all smiles yesterday when he reacted to my music and suggested that I reach out to mental-health-oriented podcasts to get my songs out there.

There are definitely smiles in my images for today.

.

In my defense, I’m hungry to share my music, and I think this song gets the most smiles.

.

Thanks to all who are here, now, for the smiles, including YOU!

Day 3942: Question Diva

Yesterday, when I asked a question on Twitter (Question: Why change a well-established and friendly brand name like Twitter to something like “X”?), somebody called me “Question Diva.”

.

I like the title “Question Diva” because, indeed, I have lots of questions, including

  • Why is there so much inhumanity in the world?
  • What can I do about it?
  • How do people stay sane amid all the insanity?
  • How can we work together to save ourselves?

.

Last night, Question Diva talked to her show biz coach about how difficult it was to ask questions when she suspected the answer would be “no.” So we role-played my asking an amazing musician to play with me on my album of original songs, with my coach responding both positively and negatively. Question Diva now feels better equipped to ask those kinds of questions.

Question Diva would now like to ask you to look at her other images for today.

.

Here and now, Question Diva has these questions;

Why was it so difficult for me to upload those images into this blog post?

How are you going to celebrate this precious day?

Will chocolate cupcakes be involved?

What will I find on YouTube when I search for “question diva”?

.

Question Diva thanks everyone who helps her ask questions every day, including YOU!

Day 3908: Artists

When I meet with my “show biz coach” Jeff Leisawitz, he talks to me about artists and includes me as part of that group.

I greatly admire artists and it feels weird and wonderful to consider that I might be one, too.

Speaking of weird, after my “artists” conversation with Jeff last night, I wrote another verse to my song “I Don’t Wanna Be Late (Don’t Wanna Be Early Either.)“

I don’t wanna be weird. Don’t wanna be normal either.

It’s something I’ve often feared, when I’ve tried too hard to be neither.

What’s so bad about being weird? Though I’m weird, I’ve always persevered.

What’s the crime in being normal? Even if you sometimes might have to be formal?

Do you see artists in my images for today?

The Daily Bitch seems to know something about artists.

Here’s what I find when I search for “artists” on YouTube:

.

I look forward to comments from the artists who are reading this blog post, including YOU.

Day 3888: In order to be remembered

When I was recently discussing my goals and wishes with my “show biz” coach Jeff, we wondered whether I create songs and shows in order to be remembered.

I have no control over how I will be remembered and I choose to focus more on the the healing of the creative process — the here and now rather than the future.

Here are some images, in order, to be remembered.

In order to be remembered, the Daily Bitch often says what many people are thinking.

Here’s what I find when I search for “in order to be remembered” on YouTube:

.

And here’s an in-order-to-be-remembered song I heard last night from Cardiacs.

.

I think more about what I could do in order to be remembered before I’m about to fly, and today my son Aaron, my ex-sister-in law Deborah, and I are flying to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Hopefully, I’ll be sharing memorable images in order from there until I return home on September 2.

Thanks to all who helped me create this in-order-to-be-remembered post, including YOU!

Day 3886: The project itself is the healing

Yesterday, when I was talking to my “show biz” coach Jeff Leisawitz about creating an album of my songs I’d be proud of, he said, “the project itself is the healing.”

Creating things I’m proud of IS the healing, including this blog. Do you see the healing in today’s blogging project?

.

I’m going to hug my sweetheart today — another project that’s healing.

This is what I find on YouTube when I search for “the project itself is the healing.”

.

Dr. Peter Levine’s projects are the healing.

This gratitude project itself is the healing, so thanks to all who help me create this daily blog, including YOU.

Day 3879: Wrong notes

Yesterday, I told my coach Jeff Leisawitz my fears about wrong notes.

When I was young, a singing teacher told me (1) if I sang a wrong note, that was all my audience would remember and (2) the only notes that were interesting in my voice were the very high notes I could sing (up to Bb over high C).

Jeff said that those notes my singing teacher gave me were wrong and he gave me an invitation to deliberately sing wrong notes in front of my husband Michael.

Do you see wrong notes in my images for today?

.

On True Love Forever Day, I’m going to hazard a guess that my husband Michael will still love me even if I sing some wrong notes.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for wrong notes.

.

Besides talking about wrong notes, Jeff and I discussed fantasy collaborators and Jacob Collier would definitely be one for me.

Feel free to leave notes about this wrong-notes post, below.

Thanks to all who help me hit the wrong notes and right notes, including YOU!

Day 3860: Kenspeckle

Kenspeckle is a word that appeared in yesterday’s blog. I assume that “Kenspeckle” is NOT kenspeckle to most people, so here’s the definition again:

In my coaching session on Wednesday, Jeff Leisawitz and I spoke about my ambivalence about being kenspeckle, which originates from my experience as a child expressing my talents and then ending up in the hospital for much of the time. Even though that’s magical thinking (a little girl’s musical and creative talents do not cause her to undergo painful surgeries and other traumatic experiences; her congenital heart condition does that), I’m still afraid of being kenspeckle.

My most recent unpleasant experience of being kenspeckle was a year ago when I shared my song “Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole” with enthusiastic strangers on a trip in Georgia, and ended up the next day in a hospital with a T.I.A.

My fears of being kenspeckle are also related to growing up in an Orthodox Jewish family, where people were afraid of attracting the “evil eye” if they were too conspicuous and easily recognizable.

I am working on letting go of my fear of being kenspeckle. In the meantime, is there anything kenspeckle in my images for today?

.

Let’s get gnarly and be kenspeckle all day!

Here I am trying to be kenspeckle in Edinburgh several years ago.

.

Thanks to all who help me have the courage to be kenspeckle, including YOU!

Day 3859: Invitations

Yesterday, in my first “show biz” coaching session with the Not F-ing Around Jeff Leisawitz, Jeff gave me some homework, which he prefers to call “invitations.”

One of Jeff’s invitations was for me to write (or otherwise express myself) about my very hilarious and performing-loving late father Aaron (known as Arkie), my wonderful ex-stand-up comedian son Aaron (known as Aaron), and me (known as however people know me). Jeff’s invitation included the suggestion that this writing might be in the form of a dialogue.

Taking Jeff’s invitation, I started writing something early this morning, including this:

I really appreciate Jeff’s invitations and now here’s an invitation from me: please peruse my other images for today.

.

I see interesting invitations from the Daily Bitch and the universe today.

Here’s what I find when I search YouTube for “invitations.”

.

I shall now give invitations for people to comment on this blog, below.

Thanks to all who help me offer and accept helpful invitations every day, including YOU!
