Day 4476: Mistakes

Because I spend so much time thinking about mistakes, I greatly appreciated this sculpture about mistakes in the Rome airport.

.

When I was packing weeks ago for the trip to Italy, I worried about mistakes — taking too little or not enough. It was much easier packing to leave Italy yesterday, because the decisions had already been made, mistakes and all. And, as I learn over and over again, my mistakes are not fatal, even if I fear that they are.

On the plane ride home yesterday, the back portion of the cabin was practically empty and, make no mistake, I enjoyed the quiet and the roominess.

.

I speculated with the flight attendant, who lives in Venice (which I will unmistakably revisit soon), that the scarcity of passengers might be related to the awful mistakes the USA President has been making. She thought that assumption was a mistake, since all other flights from Italy to the USA have been packed this week.

When I got home yesterday (after a Lyft drive when the driver got blasted by a rude Boston driver when he made a minor mistake), we couldn’t find my cat Joan, and I soon feared that we had make a mistake at the doorway and let her run out. Even though that mistake seemed impossible (we always keep an eye out for her because we know she loves getting outside), that mistake seemed more likely as she kept not showing up to greet my return. Eventually, my husband Michael went outside, found her, and brought her back inside. That mistake continued to bother me until Michael soon spotted Joan outside AGAIN as I was regaling him with tales from Italy. We then discovered, down in the basement, that we hadn’t made a mistake at all.

.

It was a mistake to assume that Joan eventually wouldn’t figure out a way to gain access to one of her favorite places — the great outdoors. Because it would be a mistake to let Joan run free among all the coyotes here, we’ve blocked that escape route for now.

Do you see any mistakes in my other images for today?

.

I think it’s a mistake to celebrate Tell a Lie Day when the USA President and his minions tell so many lies, every day.

Here’s what I find when I look for mistakes on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are here for my daily mistakes, including YOU! 💕

Day 4472: Control

There are things I cannot control, like time changes (losing an hour yesterday in Italy) and when the trains run, as we leave Venice today for Arezzo.

However, I can control how often I have pasta in Italy and what photos I put in my blog and in what order.

.

Now I have to control any tendency to leave possessions behind as I repack my stuff for our train trip today to Arezzo.

Thanks to all who are here for this control post, including YOU!

Day 4469: Reasons to get out

I’ve gotten out of the USA, temporarily, to visit Italy with friends. There are many reasons to get out of the USA right now and many reasons to get out of our hotel room in Italy.

Do you see reasons to get out in my images for today?

.

I always respect my cat and I wonder if we’ll see any cats in Venice!

Going to the Uffizi Gallery was a great reason to get out yesterday.

.

Now I need to pack so we can get out of Florence and go to Venice. Thanks for being here!

Day 3942: Question Diva

Yesterday, when I asked a question on Twitter (Question: Why change a well-established and friendly brand name like Twitter to something like “X”?), somebody called me “Question Diva.”

.

I like the title “Question Diva” because, indeed, I have lots of questions, including

  • Why is there so much inhumanity in the world?
  • What can I do about it?
  • How do people stay sane amid all the insanity?
  • How can we work together to save ourselves?

.

Last night, Question Diva talked to her show biz coach about how difficult it was to ask questions when she suspected the answer would be “no.” So we role-played my asking an amazing musician to play with me on my album of original songs, with my coach responding both positively and negatively. Question Diva now feels better equipped to ask those kinds of questions.

Question Diva would now like to ask you to look at her other images for today.

.

Here and now, Question Diva has these questions;

Why was it so difficult for me to upload those images into this blog post?

How are you going to celebrate this precious day?

Will chocolate cupcakes be involved?

What will I find on YouTube when I search for “question diva”?

.

Question Diva thanks everyone who helps her ask questions every day, including YOU!

Day 2631: Until it doesn’t

Everything can seem to be a certain way until it doesn’t.

.

Everything looked fine about my attending a week-long conference in NYC the first week in March, until it wasn’t.

As of this morning, several people from the conference have tested positive for the coronavirus, including somebody I spent most of my time with there.

As soon as I noticed a low grade fever two days after I returned from the conference, I alerted my workplace and my doctors. Even though everything seemed fine at that point, I suspected it wasn’t.

And my fevers were low until they weren’t.

And I was in the emergency room until I wasn’t, admitted Monday night to a private room with maximum precautions.

And we believed there would be enough coronavirus tests available to test me, but there wasn’t.

There will be egregiously low access to testing in this country until there isn’t.

Because of all the scary reports of how the coronavirus might affect somebody like me (over 60 with a chronic heart issue), my immediate future is going to worry me until it doesn’t.

As I am home in self-quarantine with Michael and the cats, I am taking photos of what cheers me up until it doesn’t.

That was a tale of two kitties until it wasn’t.

I’m constantly monitoring my low grade fevers until they aren’t.

Pasta is still my favorite food until it isn’t.

This recent email exchange with my cardiologist strikes me as funny until it doesn’t:

Ann

There is nothing you can do now. If you spike a fever or get short of breath you should come to the hospital. As you know even if tested positive the plan would be to stay home.

Contact me if anything comes up.

Deeb

.

Could you promise to save me a ventilator if I need one?

For old time’s sake,

Ann

.

I’ll have them give you mine!

.

Here‘s “It Hurts Until It Doesn’t”, a song by Mothers about a lost cat.

This post keeps going on until it doesn’t.
