Day 4918: Identity

Yesterday, in my Coping and Healing group, people were talking about their senses of identity.

Because my senses of identity include group facilitator and blogger, I just looked up the meaning of “identity.”

Can you identify different types of identity in my images for today?

My husband Michael has a new identity as a vegetable gardener!

I’m now embracing the new identity of rascal/scamp, because I knew today was New Identity Day when I started this post.

Day 4917: What day is it?

What day is it? It’s Friday and all of these things, according to the website holidays-and-observances.com.

It’s also the day the Obama Presidential Center opens to the public, planned to coincide with Juneteenth.

What day is it? It’s the end of a challenging week and yet another day when I share my images, hoping they help somebody.

What day is it? It’s a day when I search for video of yesterday’s celebrations for the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

What day is it? It’s a day when I express my gratitude to all who help me create these posts, including YOU!

Day 4916: Panic

Today is International Panic Day!

I am going to start out International Panic Day by sharing that last night I had a dream where I was having a panic attack. My panic was about needing to immediately fix something on YouTube, discovering that my work computer at home had been stolen, and being unable to communicate my panic to my husband Michael because my voice was hoarse and weak.

I think the panic I felt in the dream was influenced by the panic the main character is experiencing in this book.

Day 4915: Bragging

In my family, bragging was discouraged because that was

immodest and
invited the “evil eye.”

I don’t know if this is bragging, but I encourage people in my groups to bravely choose patterns others than those dictated by one’s family of origin, so I am creating a bragging post today.

The Daily Bitch is bragging in her own way.

Day 4914: Wish Fulfillment

In my therapy groups, we sometimes discuss wish fulfillment by using magic wands.

I’ve heard the saying “be careful what you wish for” but I think it helps to encourage wish fulfillment.

Day 4913: Seniors

I love being a senior and not just because of senior discounts.

I love being a senior because every day seems even more precious. And I don’t mind that people don’t look at seniors — I like having a cloak of invisibility.

I saw another senior yesterday on Route 93.

Day 4912: Disclosures

I am the kind of psychotherapist who uses self disclosures in my groups and in individual therapy. These disclosures are in service of the patient and reflect fundamental and shared experiences. These disclosures, I hope, reinforce the healing message that no one is alone.

Yesterday, I saw the new Steven Spielberg movie Disclosure Day, which disclosed typical Spielbergian themes including the importance of empathy and transforming trauma into art.
