Day 4913: Seniors

I love being a senior and not just because of senior discounts.

I love being a senior because every day seems even more precious. And I don’t mind that people don’t look at seniors — I like having a cloak of invisibility.

I saw another senior yesterday on Route 93.

Why keep it to yourself if you’re a senior?

Here are this senior blogger’s other images for today:

We seniors do have some excuses.

Here’s what I find when I search for seniors on YouTube.

Thanks to all who are here for this seniors post, including YOU!

  1. i love being older too, there is great freedom in this, many things that don’t matter fall by the wayside

I love being old – I consider being over 80 as old, although that may no longer be as true as it once was. Lots of folks are living to 100 nowadays. ‘Twasn’t so in my youth. My maternal grandmother was always old to me, even though she couldn’t have been much more than 60 when I was little. And yet I think she was younger at heart than was my mother. Although that may also have been the product of more freedom to be herself as she aged. I used to feel a little embarrassed at forgetting a name or a birthday. Now I just smile and plunk down the old lady card. 🙂

  3. The older I get the farther away “old” seems to be. But I just hope I leave the world a better place than it was when I entered.

  4. embrace your senior status Anne! xox

I’d like to feel more comfortable about my senior status. I’m still figuring out how to distinguish between “recognizing that I’m getting older but with a still-vibrant point of view” (which is my actual inner view of myself) and “being old and therefore feeble and useless” (which is the way I fear others will see me if I refer to myself as “old” or “a senior,” causing people to talk to me in a condescending way, which infuriates me). Some work to do there!

P.S. That is a snazzy new cat gizmo!
