Day 4716: Good for You

One of my coworkers, another therapist, told me that when listening to patients he often says, “Good for you.”

I believe that’s a good way to respond to people who are doing their best to heal and to bring more good into their lives.

If you are spending more time with good people, staying true to your values and priorities, putting your needs slightly above others’, and being kind in the midst of unkindness, I say, “good for you.”

Do you see things that are good for you in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “good for you” on YouTube:

.

Thanks to all who are doing things that are good for you, including YOU!

Day 4646: You Don’t Scare Me

I sang “You Don’t Scare Me “ in Brookline yesterday and wasn’t scared when

  • my reserved parking space was full,
  • a phone rep from SpotHero took me on a wild goose chase to find another spot,
  • somebody at the protest in Brookline said she was one of the organizers and told me to stop singing,
  • other people who were organizers overruled her and told me to keep sharing my music,
  • an unfriendly guy kept taking pictures of me when I was singing,
  • I connected with many strangers,
  • I handed out “Singing Therapist” cards with links to my music,
  • I returned to the second parking lot to find that my car had been towed,
  • I called SpotHero and was told that the phone rep had told me to park in the wrong spots,
  • I spoke to the police and the tow company who were kind of scary,
  • I took a Lyft to go to the scary towing company,
  • I had a very interesting conversation with the scary owner of the tow company which ended in my giving him my “Singing Therapist Card” and comparing IQ’s, and
  • I cried at dinner with Michael as I told him about my day.

You don’t scare me, scary world!

I wasn’t scared to get this text message after I had retrieved my car.
I wasn’t scared to admire those fabulous earrings and to share an old video of my son Aaron in his jellyfish costume for Halloween.
You don’t scare me, numbers!

.

You don’t scare me, September 21, 2025!

Here’s “You Don’t Scare Me” …

… and Aaron’s old jellyfish costume.

You don’t scare me, YouTube, when you give me this new error message when I try to share videos.

.

I am so grateful to people who don’t scare me, including YOU!

Day 4611: What gets our attention

As I get ready for a memorial service for my patient who passed, I’m thinking about what gets our attention.

What gets your attention my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “what gets our attention.”

.

Does gratitude get our attention?

Day 4605: Expectations

My expectation is that there are many quotes about expectations.

.

Yesterday, I started writing a song about expectations.

©️ Ann Koplow, 2025

.

Do you have any expectations about what else I might include in today’s blog?

.

My expectations are that, even though I have trouble making decisions, I will make it into work today.

Here’s a song I wrote about expectations.

.

Despite my catastrophizing, my expectations are that song will appear in the right order on my first album, which I expect will be released a week from Friday on Spotify, Apple Music, and elsewhere.

Thanks to those who help me manage expectations, including YOU!

Day 4597: Amateur

At this point, when it comes to music, I am an amateur.

.

When I performed three concerts of my original songs at last year, I did charge an admission fee, but all the proceeds went to charities, which I think preserved my amateur status.

If my live album, which will be released on August 22, generates any revenue, I guess I’ll change from amateur to a professional.

Do you see any amateurs in my images for today?

.

I didn’t put these amateurs on the album but I loved this part of my concert.

.

Like every amateur, I second guess myself, so now I’m thinking I should have included that on the album!

Thanks to all who are here for this amateur post, including YOU!

Day 4590: A Good Day

I had a good day yesterday, despite these being bad days for democracy and human rights.

Can you see why yesterday was a good day for me?

.

Uploading this to my YouTube channel yesterday reminded me of a good day last year when I gave a concert of my original songs and donated all the proceeds to ActBlue.

.

What’s a good day for you?

Thanks to all who help me have a good day, including YOU!

Day 4282: What day is it?

It’s September 22, 2024, the first day of fall.

It’s also Car Free Day …

.

… among many other observances.

.

It’s also the the day after National Dance Day, which I was happy to celebrate by dancing and asking this question on Twitter last night:

.

It’s also a day when I’m sharing that classic Nicholas Brothers dance routine …

.

… as well as these images:

.

What day is it? It’s another day to work towards good outcomes for the USA November election.

It’s also another day to express my gratitude to YOU for being here, now.
