As I gratefully approach the age of 72, I am trying to make sense of the distressing age we are living in.
Yesterday, because I wasn’t satisfied with my first recording of The Age of Nefarious (my new lyrics for The Age of Aquarius), I tried again:
.
My ex-husband, Leon, thinks that song is one for the ages.
What ages do you see in my images for today?
.
This the age when a man with the emotional age of a 4-year-old is President of the USA. Hell hath no fury like him and that’s hell for thinking, empathic people of all ages.
Thanks to all who are here for this ages post, including YOU!
It’s difficult to practice radical acceptance when so many things are unacceptable. I know I’m not alone in believing that many actions of the new USA administration are unacceptable.
How do we deal with the unacceptable? The first step is naming it.
.
Here are my other images for this “unacceptable” post.
.
Pema Chodron talks about accepting that we never finally have our shit together. However, we’ll need to have our shit together well enough to combat and survive the unacceptable all around us.
Here’s what I find when I search for “unacceptable” on YouTube.
Today is Trust Your Intuition Day and I am going to trust my intuition to make that the subject of today’s blog.
My intuition is telling me to ignore my negative thoughts (which can feel like intuition) and to focus on preparing for my upcoming concert of my original songs, which is the same week as my college reunion.
Can you trust your intuition about my images for today?
Because we human beings like to make meaning, we can link unrelated causes and effects.
I’ve heard many people express a belief that their feeling too good causes something bad to happen. Personally, I have a superstitious belief that if I put myself out there in a new and brave way, disaster will ensue.
Rationally, I know that’s ridiculous. But wait, there’s more! Lately I’ve been moving full steam ahead creating more music and trying to promote it. And if you read this daily blog, did you notice I landed in the Emergency Room this weekend with double vision that some people thought might be another mini-stroke?
On the recommendation of my husband Michael, I watched the superb documentary Wildcat.
Michael — who is very critical and “discerning” (his word) about films — described Wildcat as “moving” and “surprising” which moved me to watch it the day I got back from my trip to NYC. Also, Wildcat is about cats and PTSD — both defining interests in my life.
As the end of every year, I make a list of my personal bests and worsts — the highlights and the lowlights.
Yesterday, I told my son that he’s always a highlight, no matter what the year. We also discussed how it can be easier to remember the worsts than the bests, so it might take effort to remember the highlights.
I expect that our trip to NYC today will be a highlight of 2022. Can you see highlights in my images for today?
.
The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical “A Strange Loop” is sure to be a highlight of our trip to NYC. Here are highlights from that musical:
Thanks to all those who are highlights to me, including YOU!
It’s fascinating to me how much it improves my mood to title today’s blog post “Fascinating” (rather than “Afraid to Look” or “Big Setbacks” or other more negative titles I was considering).
If I can approach life with curiosity and openness to how fascinating everything is, I feel stronger, more hopeful, and better equipped to meet the inevitable ups and downs of existence.
Which of today’s images do you find fascinating?
It’s fascinating to me that today is National Black Dog Day, National Hair Day, Fire Pup Day, National Homemade Cookies Day, National Manufacturing Day, National Body Language Day, AND World Smile Day.
Here’s Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm“ as performed by Jacob Collier…
It’s fascinating to me that when I wrote that, seven months ago, I had no idea how controversial the COVID vaccines could be. It’s fascinating that I had no hesitation in getting the booster shot as soon as I could, and yet people I love and respect are refusing to get vaccinated at all.
What do you find fascinating? I look forward to reading your fascinating comments, below.
It’s fascinating how much gratitude helps, so thanks to all who read this blog, including fascinating YOU!
