Day 4626: Getting People’s Attention

Getting people’s attention is complicated for me, because I grew up surrounded by mixed messages about that.

My late father loved getting people’s attention with his singing and his humor; my mother preferred not to have people’s attention at all. Also, I was told not to attract the attention of the “evil eye” if I called attention to anything positive, including my accomplishments or hopes. I think Jewish families in the 60s often believed that getting people’s attention was dangerous.

Today, I might be getting people’s attention with my ukulele and my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me” at a Labor Day protest march in Boston.

.

I might also be getting people’s attention with my parody of “The Age of Aquarius” — “The Age of Nefarious.”

.

Do you see getting people’s attention in my images for today?

.

What are your thoughts and feelings about getting people’s attention?

As always, I appreciate getting people’s attention here, so thank you for that!

Day 4578: Angst

Even though I’m ready for adventure, I am an adventurer who is feeling angst.

.

My hair is not causing me angst, but the state of my country definitely is.

At Sunday’s workshop on Laughtivism (activism using the power of humor), many of us discussed how our angst was getting in the way of our senses of humor — that it was difficult to even imagine laughter in the face of so much evil and injustice. Despite my ideas and my parody song “The Age of Nefarious” getting positive attention at the workshop, I am still struggling with lots of angst today. One thing I learned at the workshop that magnified my angst: while Donald Trump’s approval rating is historically low, the Democrats’ rating is TEN POINTS LOWER.

I don’t know if I’m feeling more angst or anger.

Do you see angst in my images for today?

.

Other people on this planet are causing me a load of angst.

Here’s what I find when I search for “angst” on YouTube.

.

I’m also feeling angst about the untimely death of the poet Andrea Gibson.

.

Thanks to all who are here for the angst etc., including YOU.

Day 4562: What to expect

I rarely know what to expect these days, so it’s often helpful when people tell me what to expect.

.

I don’t know what to expect when this local activist sings her protest song “You Don’t Scare Me” and her parody song “The Age of Nefarious” at today’s rally, but that’s okay.

You might not know what to expect from my other images for today, but here they are.

.

I don’t know what to expect when I search YouTube for “what to expect.”

.

I don’t know what to expect from your comments and I look forward to them!

You might know what to expect at the end of this blog post: it’s gratitude for you!

Day 4547: Blame

Blame is one of the cognitive distortions that human minds automatically do.

I’m to blame for this description of blaming:

.

I’m also to blame for this song parody, which I might sing at a No Kings protest today.

.

Do you see blame in my other images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for blame on YouTube:

.

Thank to Brené Brown, my friends on Twitter, cool cats everywhere, peaceful protesters, and everyone who is here for this blame post, including YOU.

Day 4542: Throw the guilt away

Do you ever notice how people who commit nefarious deeds never seem to feel guilt while the rest of us need to throw the guilt away over and over again?

That’s why I started writing lyrics to a song called “Throw the Guilt Away” months ago, which I shared yesterday.

.

I’m going to throw the guilt away about not completing that song as I share some people’s responses to it on Twitter (and I’m going to throw the guilt away about being on a platform owned by the nefarious Mr. Musk).

.

Yesterday, I threw the guilt away as I took up some valuable time of the fabulous singer-songwriter Rose White, who gave me invaluable tips about navigating the music business.

Here is a YouTube video of the amazingly wonderful Rose:

.

After talking to Rose, I threw the guilt away as I threw away my faithful iPhone 8 and replaced it with the iPhone 16. Everything is working okay on the new phone except the app that monitors my cardiac pacemaker and the app for Twitter.

I’m going to throw the guilt away for not mentioning the pacemaker monitoring app on Twitter as I share some responses to that post.

.

I’m going to throw the guilt away as I share the rest of my images for today without explanation.

.

On Writers’ Rights Day, I am throwing the guilt away about considering myself a writer!

Thanks to Rose White, my friends on Twitter, and all who are here for this throw-the-guilt-away post, including YOU!

Day 4501: Superheroes

If you look at the news, there aren’t a lot of heroes to be found today, much less superheroes. And yet, I believe that we are all superheroes in our own ways.

Do you see any superheroes in my images for today?

.

Maybe I’m a superhero in writing songs that inspire other superheroes, and maybe one of these videos will go viral on Viral Video Day!

.

Thanks to all the superheroes out there, including YOU!

Day 4436: Undivided Attention

As prone as I am to multi-tasking and contemplating many possibilities at once, there are things that get my undivided attention, including

  • My therapy groups,
  • Current dangers to USA democracy,
  • Interesting conversations,
  • Delicious food,
  • Great music,
  • Compelling cats,
  • Excellent movies,
  • Puzzles, and
  • My son Aaron, whose birthday is today!

.

If you’ve been giving undivided attention to this long-running daily blog (which I don’t expect), you would know that I share this classic misheard lyrics creation of Aaron’s on February 23.

.

That video always gets my undivided attention.

Is there anything that gets your undivided attention in my images for today?

.

I wish World Understanding and Peace would get everyone’s undivided attention, but we get so distracted by the lies of nefarious leaders. If their noses grew like Pinocchio’s every time they lied, perhaps more people would give their undivided attention to removing these dangerous liars from power.

If you leave a comment below, I will give it my undivided attention.

Thanks to all who are giving their undivided attention here, now, including YOU!

Day 4409: Ages

As I gratefully approach the age of 72, I am trying to make sense of the distressing age we are living in.

Yesterday, because I wasn’t satisfied with my first recording of The Age of Nefarious (my new lyrics for The Age of Aquarius), I tried again:

.

My ex-husband, Leon, thinks that song is one for the ages.

What ages do you see in my images for today?

.

This the age when a man with the emotional age of a 4-year-old is President of the USA. Hell hath no fury like him and that’s hell for thinking, empathic people of all ages.

Thanks to all who are here for this ages post, including YOU!

Day 4404: How do you feel?

Yesterday, I saw my wonderful Primary Care Physician, Dr. Laura Snydman, for my yearly checkup and she asked me many questions including “How do you feel?”

I told her I feel well physically (now that I have finally recovered from RSV) and I feel terrible about the state of our country.

She noted that my blood pressure went down after I sang my new song The Age of Nefarious for her yesterday and we both felt good about that.

How do you feel about my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “How do you feel?” on YouTube:

.

How do you feel about my gratitude for YOU?

Day 4402: What Day Is It?

What day is it?

.

What day is it? It’s a day when I express my thoughts and feelings by sharing these images.

.

What day is it? It’s a day when I’ll be listening to people I love and not listening to people who hate. It’s also a day when I’ll be recording and posting my song “The Age of Nefarious,” which people I love seem to love.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “What Day Is It?”

.

What day is it? It’s another day when I express my thanks to all who help me face another day, including YOU!
