Because we human beings like to make meaning, we can link unrelated causes and effects.
I’ve heard many people express a belief that their feeling too good causes something bad to happen. Personally, I have a superstitious belief that if I put myself out there in a new and brave way, disaster will ensue.
For example, last year when I was on vacation in Georgia I dared to share one of my original songs with two strangers who reacted very positively. The next day, I was in the hospital with a mini-stroke. In my mind, those two events were somehow related.
Rationally, I know that’s ridiculous. But wait, there’s more! Lately I’ve been moving full steam ahead creating more music and trying to promote it. And if you read this daily blog, did you notice I landed in the Emergency Room this weekend with double vision that some people thought might be another mini-stroke?
Anyway, this inspired me to start another song.

.
That’s going to cause me to write more verses for that song, which I hope has a good effect.
Do you see cause and effect in my other images for today?

.
I can think of endless causes for the effect of an International Moment of Frustration Scream Day.
Here’s what I find when I search for “cause and effect” on YouTube.
.
I hope my expressing gratitude for you causes a good effect, here and now.

I am very sorry to hear that you lost a friend to suicide.( You wrote it into your song).
Did you really run into a porcupine? I have never seen one!
I was thinking about a time when I was director of a Psychiatric Day Treatment program when three people died in a short period of time, which included a suicide. I was also thinking about people’s superstition that bad things happen in three’s. The porcupine is strictly metaphorical!
I do not know the cause resulting in half the population of the Gaza strip being under 15, but I suspect that the result is a population ripe for exploitation and induction into Hamas, ala ISIS.
That is a chilling effect to consider, Barbara.
I think that things most often happen and when and how they are meant to, regardless of what we do or don’t to
You always cause me to think, beth, to good effect.
A long time ago I learned the expression “correlation doesn’t equal causation” which has been very useful in reminding myself that sometimes bad things just happen. Every time I see a picture of Joan looking at the camera I do feel better, so sometimes correlation does equal causation.
Every time I see your comments I feel better, Chris.
sorry you ended up in the Er again Ann! I hope your on the mend now!
I am on the mend and your comment causes me to feel even better!
Sometimes inaction might cause things to happen, Ann, on the flip side.
Thanks for the actions you take, my friend.
Sometimes I think like that. God only knows if it’s a coincidence or superstition.
We don’t know!
