Day 4946: Destiny

It’s apparently my destiny to create a blog post about destiny today.

Maybe that’s my destiny because I’m going to see The Odyssey today. According to the reviews, it was Christopher Nolan’s destiny to make this movie.

It is my destiny to share these images with you today.

On Perfect Family Day and Listening Day, it’s my destiny to share this: because I’ve been listening to people in therapy for years, I believe it’s nobody’s destiny to come from a perfect family.

Here’s what I find when I search for “destiny” on YouTube:

.

Every day, it is my destiny to express my gratitude to YOU!

Day 4216: Emotions

I don’t know about you, but emotions are running wild over here.

In therapy, we work on identifying, accepting, and expressing emotions without judgment. We also talk about how emotions are like the weather — that they come and go with different intensities.

On my door at the hospital where I work, I have an emotions chart that I drew in a group session many years ago.

.

I think the most important emotion on that chart is hope.

What other emotions are in my blog today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “emotions” on YouTube:

.

What emotions would you like to express in the comments section, below?

I feel gratitude for all who are here for this emotions post, including YOU!

Day 3850: All-or-nothing thinking

All-or-nothing is a very common cognitive distortion, described here:

Things are either all good or all bad, people are either perfect or failures, something new will either fix everything or be worthless. There is no middle ground; we place people and situations in “either/or” categories, with no shades of gray, or allowing for complexities. Watch out for absolute words like “always”, “never,” “totally,” etc. as indications of this kind of distortion.

.

I was about to say that we all do all-or-nothing thinking, but perhaps there are some humans that don’t.

Is the Daily Bitch doing all-or-nothing thinking today?

.

Technically, she is correct (as usual), but that kind of either-or thinking doesn’t reflect the vast diversity in the universe.

.

Things aren’t alway either pizza or not pizza; they can also be sour candy and/or caviar.

Here’s what I find when I search for “all-or-nothing” thinking on YouTube.

.

Do you do all-or-nothing thinking? And please don’t respond “always!”

Thanks to all who helped me create this all-or-nothing-thinking post, including YOU!

Day 3309: How to express empathy

How do you express empathy? With spoken words? Written words? Facial expressions? Hugs? Other non-verbal communication?

Where do you express empathy? In person? On the phone? In ZOOM gatherings? On social media?

To whom do you express empathy? To family members? Friends? Acquaintances? Strangers?

Sometimes I’m not sure how to express empathy, but I know I feel it every day.

Do you see how to express empathy in any of my images for today?

If you comment, I will do my best to express empathy in my response.

Thanks for all who feel and express empathy, including YOU.
