Here and now, I’m having trouble

deciding whether to do an in-person open mic this Friday,
singing and speaking because of my clicking jaw,
getting around because of a swollen ankle, and
changing the batteries for this magic wand, which I use in individual and group therapy.

Let’s see what trouble we might find in my other images for today.

I’m not going to have any trouble celebrating World Pet’s Day …

… but I’m skipping the kale on National Kale Day, because that causes trouble with my prescription of Coumadin.

Day 3914: Memory

People in my therapy groups often talk about memory — painful ones, early ones, comforting ones, and the fear of losing their memory.

If my memory serves me well, there are some great quotes about memory.

My memory is that one year ago today I was worrying about my INR, but I still like that quote from Mr. Cossman. Do you see memory in my other images for today?

It seems like vegetables are just a memory for the Daily Bitch on National Pepperoni Pizza Day.

Day 3911: Enough

Yesterday, I decided I had done enough work on my song “I Don’t Wanna Be Late (Don’t Wanna Be Early Either”” to post a very long (13 minutes!) version on YouTube.

I honestly don’t know if anybody has enough time to listen to that whole thing.

And, apparently I haven’t written enough verses, because I just wrote this one:

Day 3887: Weather Complaint Day

Today is Weather Complaint Day, which seems well-timed for all the people feeling the effects of human-made climate change around the world (which the Republican candidates for President denied in last night’s debate).

My personal weather complaint is this: the forecasted rainfall is dampening my plans to walk with my son tomorrow morning to catch a ferry to Logan Airport. And now that I check the 10-day forecast for Halifax, Nova Scotia, there might be some weather complaints there, too.

Day 3845: Simplify

While I’m very busy, I’m also trying to simplify my life.

It helps me simplify to remember that the secret of life is three things:

Show up.
Be gentle (with others and yourself).
Tell the truth.

To tell the truth, my husband and I have been watching Tiny House Hunting, where people simplify their lives by downsizing dramatically.

I’m now trying to simplify a thought I’m having about how I simplify my life: I spend my time doing things I value with people I love.

I shall now simplify this blog post.

I shall now simplify myself by embracing the labels “Gruntled Worker” and “Passionate Cat Lady.”

Day 3819: Juggling

In therapy, people often talk about the challenge of juggling different things in their lives, including their needs with others’ needs.

As I’m juggling my urge to travel with other people’s priorities, I am now resolving to travel more on my own, letting go of any fear about that.

Day 3795: Confidence

Yesterday, the group talked about “fake it til you make it” — practicing confidence even when we’re not feeling it. It’s difficult to feel confidence when we’re doing something new, and everything we’re doing is new in one way or another.
