Day 4599: Doing something healthy

I am doing something healthy every day, including walking, drinking water, spending time with those I love, and blogging!

Do you see others doing something heathy in my images for today?

.

On August 5, my husband Michael is doing something heathy by trying to grow green peppers …

.

… and I’m doing something healthy by not always working like a dog.

Last night I was doing something healthy by falling asleep to this:

.

How have you been doing something healthy?

Finally, I’m doing something healthy by expressing my gratitude to you!

Day 4522: What I know and what I don’t know

What I know is that I’ve had to clean out and leave my office of over 10 years. What I don’t know is how it will be working without an office on a different floor of the hospital.

What I know is that I did an Open Mic last night at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge. What I don’t know is the future of my musical aspirations.

What I know is that I found this when I was cleaning out my office yesterday…

.

… and what I don’t know is what you think about the synchronicity with today’s Daily Bitch Calendar.

.

What I know is that I took a lot of pictures yesterday in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston and in Cambridge’s Central Square. What I don’t know is what kind of story they will tell to you.

.

On National Be a Millionaire Day I know that one of the songs I sang last night is about being a millionaire (among other things).

.

Here’s the first thing I find on YouTube when I search for “what I know and what I don’t know.”

.

What I know is that I’m grateful to all who are here for this what-I-know-and-what-I-don’t-know post, including YOU!

Day 4459: A word

I’ve heard people ask “can I have a word?” when they want to communicate something.

.

Actually, I don’t want to have a polite, brief, or private word about what’s going on in my country and in the world right now, because it’s too serious to be confidential.

Yesterday, I asked people to come up with a word to describe the current USA Congress.

.

There were many other words, believe me.

I also asked people to share a word for how they were feeling.

.

Is there a word to describe my other images for today?

.

In the above list, I’m particularly noticing these words: forgive, Mom, Dad, recycling, Goddess, awkward, moments, sacrifice, appreciation, and social work.

Here’s what I find when I search for “a word” on YouTube:

.

Consider leaving a word in the comments section, below.

Here’s a word to express my gratitude to YOU.

Day 4452: Unbehagen

Lately, I’ve been talking to friends about the uncomfortable feeling of having to do something that I rarely do, which involves the fear of failing. I have this distressing feeling every time I do my taxes and also a particular task at work.

I’ve said to these friends, “There must be a German word, like schadenfreude, that describes that particular feeling.”

Yesterday I searched for that word and found “unbehagen.”

.

I overcame my Unbehagen of accepting an AI overview like that by searching for an English word to describe the feeling.

.

I feel unbehagen, unease, discomfort, perturbation, apprehension, disinclination, and awkwardness whenever I prepare for a trip, because I don’t travel that often.

I also feel all those feelings whenever I adjust to a time change, like yesterday, or whenever we are trying to defend and preserve democracy in the USA, like now.

Do you experience unbehagen as you look at my images for today?

.

I’ve never searched for “unbehagen” on YouTube before, but I will overcome my unbehagen about that right now.

.

Thanks to Nina Hagen, cool cats everywhere, and all my awesome friends who help me deal with unbehagen, including YOU!

Day 4242: Words

Boy, I’ve written a lot of words for this daily blog over the years. No matter what happens, it seems like I’ve got some words (and pictures) to share.

Yesterday, on my commuter ferry ride into Boston, I saw a woman reading a book and the words of the title were something like this: “The Democrats Hate America.” I was tempted to speak these words to her — “No we don’t” — but I didn’t want to have words with somebody that early in the morning.

Sometimes I have no words for what is going on in my country.

What words come up about my images for today?

.

That’s a much smaller number of words than unusual in today’s list of holidays and observances. I am going to celebrate International Lefthander’s Day because I’m an international Lefthander (who has had some trouble writing legible words with a pen and especially a pencil).

(Sometimes I wonder whether people actually read all the words in my posts instead of just looking at the pictures. If you are reading these words, please reply “Word!” in the comments, below. )

Here’s what I find when I search for “words” on YouTube.

.

I end each blog post with two words that express my gratitude to all those who help me every day, including YOU!

Day 4151: Beliefs

One of my beliefs is that the more you authentically share about yourself, the more you will feel connected to others.

My other beliefs include:

  • It’s never what you expect.
  • Show up.
  • Be gentle with yourself and others.
  • Tell the truth.
  • Life is better with music and cats.
  • You’ll feel better if you don’t take things personally.
  • Don’t consume empty calories unless they include chocolate.
  • If you appreciate somebody, tell them immediately.

Do you see any beliefs in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “beliefs” on YouTube.

.

What are some of your beliefs?

My beliefs include that gratitude helps all of us, so many thanks to YOU.

Day 4095: Awkward!

I’m sure I’ve already written an “Awkward!” blog post, but I don’t feel awkward about that.

I do feel awkward about

  • asking for what I want,
  • saying “no,”
  • confronting people,
  • expressing anger or disappointment,
  • mistakes,
  • keeping track of changing technology,
  • forgetting things I used to be able to remember,
  • revealing “too much” (whatever that is), and
  • having incomplete lists.

Do you see anything awkward in today’s images?

I do feel a little awkward bragging that I’m a social worker on World Social Work Day.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “awkward!”

.

I don’t feel particularly awkward asking for comments about this “Awkward!” post.

Thanks to all who help me feel less awkward, including YOU!

Day 4088: Exhausting

As a therapist these days, I find that responding “that must be exhausting” is almost always the correct, empathic thing to say.

I also notice that asking people on Twitter “what’s exhausting?” gets twice as many responses as “what’s awesome?”

What’s exhausting in my images for today?

.

As if all that weren’t exhausting enough, here’s what I find when I search for “exhausting” on YouTube.

.

If it’s not too exhausting, please leave a comment below.

Thanks to all who are here for this exhausting post, including YOU!

Day 4083: Shouldn’t exist

Here’s something that shouldn’t exist, according to somebody:

That caught my eye yesterday, perhaps because I spend so much time, as a psychotherapist, hearing stories about things that shouldn’t exist, including child abuse, discrimination, physical pain, emotional pain, and social injustice.

What helps me and others deal with things that shouldn’t exist? Radical acceptance.

.

Do you see things in today’s blog post that shouldn’t exist?

.

Speaking of being annoying, I’ve noticed that the readership for this blog has been way down lately — does that mean this blog shouldn’t exist?

Here’s my answer: I blog primarily for my own self care and resilience during challenging times, so I work on radically accepting whatever happens when I send each daily post out into the world.

Here’s what I find when I search for “shouldn’t exist” on YouTube.

.

Maybe there are reasons why gratitude shouldn’t exist, but it always exists here!

Day 4060: States

I’d like to state that the word “state” refers to different states.

Yesterday, I was in the state of Massachusetts in a state of distraction at work when I heard someone state my name out loud. It was Sarah from high school who stated that she reads my blog every day. I just want to state the following: “Hello, Sarah! You made my day!“

What states do you see in my images for today?

Here and now, I am in the same state as the Daily Bitch and in a state of anxiety because of how USA elections of the President go by the states rather than by the popular vote. I’d also like to state that in my Coping and Healing group yesterday people talked about desperation, self love and many other states.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “states.”

.

What state are you in?

Finally, I will state my gratitude for YOU!
