Day 4445: What I would rather be doing

Even though I try to engage whole-heartedly and mindfully in every moment, there are times when I would rather be doing something else.

For example, I would rather be writing music for my protest song instead of working on my taxes. I would rather spend time with people who are honest and kind instead of people who lie and hurt others.

I would rather be eating ice cream rather than rice cakes but I’m trying a new diet with hopes that it will cure my annoyingly clicking jaw.

However, there is nothing I would rather be doing, here and now, than creating this blog post and sharing these images.

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “what I would rather be doing.”

.

Obviously, I would rather be watching those guys than the guy who’ll be talking on TV tonight.

What would you rather be doing?

There’s nothing I would rather be doing than thanking the wonderful people in this world, including YOU.

Day 4225: Being Peace

Yesterday, when I was trying to settle my mind, I went for a morning walk and listened to “Being Peace” by Thich Nhat Hanh.

.

As I practice being peace (instead of worrying about peace), the world looks different to me.

.

Here is “Being Peace.”

.

Thanks to all who are here for this “Being Peace” blog, including YOU.

Day 4181: What cats can teach us

I believe that we can learn from everyone and everything, including cats.

Can you see what cats can teach us in my images for today?

.

Cats have also taught me this: While I don’t like being micro-managed by managers, I don’t mind being micro-managed by cats.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “what cats can teach us.”

.

Thanks to cats and humans who teach me, including YOU!

Day 3809: Sometimes

Sometimes, I

  • get self-conscious,
  • overthink things,
  • believe I’m alone when I’m not,
  • focus on the past,
  • expect the worst in the future,
  • lose track of the riches of the present,
  • forget I have years of experience solving all sorts of problems,
  • don’t have a lot of photos to share, and
  • highlight the Daily Bitch.

Sometimes I eat Chocolate Ice Cream. No times I run, go to a tailor, or use a VCR.

Here’s a “sometimes” song that’s playing in my head:

Sometimes I have dinner with my son Aaron, my husband Michael, and my ex-husband Leon, and tonight is one of those times.

Sometimes I ask for comments on a post; all times I feel and express gratitude for those who sometimes read this blog, including YOU!

Day 3640: The most wonderful time of the year

Even though I think that the most wonderful time of the year is Spring, I recognize that many people think that December is the most wonderful time of the year.

Actually, because living in the moment is most wonderful, I’m going practice believing that it is ALWAYS the most wonderful time of the year, no matter what time of the year it is.

Do my images show that this is the most wonderful time of the year?

Here’s “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

Thanks to all who make this the most wonderful time of the year, including YOU.

Day 3555: Confetti Moments

While preparing for today’s blog post, I came across the term “confetti moments” and assumed I knew what that meant.

To me, “confetti moments” are when you choose to celebrate …

  • something you’ve accomplished,
  • somebody/something you love, or
  • just being alive.

I remember moments when I would say this to patients who had good news to report: “I wish I had some confetti I could throw right now!” I even fantasized about inventing a reusable confetti-moment device that threw confetti attached to invisible, retractable strings.

In a day filled with confetti moments yesterday, my husband Michael and I had one last night when my car wouldn’t start after we had dinner out at a favorite restaurant. Working together, we figured out the problem and easily fixed it! 🎉

Do you see confetti moments in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “confetti moments.”

Thanks to all who give me confetti moments, including YOU!

Day 3475: The past, present, and future

In the past, I’ve experienced trauma, fear, sadness, anger, joy, shame, pride, loss, grief, love, friendship, beauty, ugliness, hope, despair, mistakes, lessons learned, the unexpected, the expected, connection, disconnection, injustice, justice, privilege, emotional pain, physical pain, healing, comedy, tragedy, triumphs, disappointments, and many adventures.

In the present, I’m grateful to be writing another blog post for me and for you.

In the future, I’ll be inviting people (including myself) to focus less on the past and future and more on the present.

Can you see the past, present, and future in my images for today?

I see the past, present, and future in today’s National Days. For example, ice cream 🍨🍦is in my future, even if the lottery isn’t.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “the past, present, and future.”

I also find this:

In the present, I’m smiling at one of the comments about that video on YouTube: “Try telling your boss that time is an illusion.”

Thanks to all who read this blog in the past, the present, and future, including YOU!
