Yesterday, I did a mindfulness exercise where I invited people to focus on what makes them happy. Because our minds can automatically focus on what’s wrong or dangerous, it often takes effort and practice to think about what makes us happy (especially during unhappy times like these).
I’m happy to wish a happy birthday to my son Aaron and to my cardiologist, Dr. Deeb Salem! 🎉🎉🎂🎂🎁🎁💕
Yesterday, I was happy about the results of my annual check up with Dr. Salem. He said he wants to see me again in six months because “seeing you makes me happy.” Tufts Medical Center is going to name a building after him soon and when they do, I’ll be happy to make a speech, as he has requested, at that celebration. I was happy to swap stories about our long relationship in front of two young doctors yesterday and I was happy to exclaim, “Don’t I look great for my age!” even though nobody could really tell because I was wearing a mask.
I’m happy that I have a wonderful son and that we decided it was safe enough for me to get pregnant in my 40s despite my congenital heart condition.
My husband Michael and I were happy to watch the Deadwood movie last night which gave some good closure to the series, especially because some of the characters were finally happy!
I’m happy that today is my longest and busiest working day of the week because I get to facilitate two Coping and Healing groups on Thursdays.
I’m happy with our new shower/bathroom remodel and with all the images I have to share with you today.
.
I’m happy with the new tiles in the bathroom on National Tile Day and I’m very happy that today is World Understanding and Peace Day.
Do you think that people who comment are happy? I think people who express gratitude daily are happy, so thanks to all who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — to YOU.
Two thousand thanks to all who helped me blog daily, including Michael who took over for two posts (here and here ) after my open heart surgery on September 21, 2016. Michael’s two posts had the most likes and the most comments in the last two thousand days, but who’s counting?
Actually, over the last two thousand days, I’ve asked “Who’s counting?” many, many times, and I think today is a great day to reveal the answer to that question.
Who’s counting? Me. I’m counting. And I’ve been counting on this blog and on all of you to help me learn, grow, and get through every day.
Let’s see if the latest photos on my iPhone are relevant for today.
They were taking off the roof of this house yesterday on the South Shore of Boston. Later that day, I saw and heard somebody in a Chicago subway station tap dancing to “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof.” (A song that helped me get through pneumonia, as described in this April 18, 2016 post.)
Yesterday, when I was doing more of what makes me happy — including spending time with people I love, eating delicious and nutritious food, and looking at interesting houses near the water — I saw this at Craig’s Cafe in Quincy, Massachusetts:
Wouldn’t it be great if we could do more of what makes us happy and less of what makes us unhappy? What’s stopping us?
Since it makes me happy to share photos with you, I’m going to do more of that now.
Doing more kitty time, yesterday, made me happy and so did this fortune …
… because it encourages me share more music with you, which makes me happy.
Do more of what makes me happy and please leave a comment, below.
It makes me happy to express more appreciation for all who help me create these daily blog posts and — of course! — for you.
