Earlier this week, I was completely wrong about something. These days, when I’m completely wrong, I quickly admit it and forgive myself.
There are so many things going on in my country and the world that seem completely wrong. I don’t expect things to ever be completely right but could we figure out a way to make them less completely wrong?
Do you see anything completely wrong in my images for today?
When I went for my ophthalmology follow up appointment yesterday, I was nervous because of an abnormality that had shown up on a scan of the back of my right eyeball.
Before I went to the appointment I stopped by my own office and took this picture:
.
I felt less nervous when the ophthalmology specialist told me that the abnormality — a “freckle” which had shown up near the optic nerve — had not grown in five months.
Then I was nervous about driving home because my car has been having starting problems and they had dilated my eyes for the appointment.
Which reminds me — when a nervous eye technician came in to ask the doctor a question, “Is it okay for me to dilate a pregnant woman?” I said “Which way?”
Sometime I make jokes when I’m nervous.
I’m still nervous about my car because my mechanic says I should take it to a Honda dealership and I played phone tag with the dealership yesterday.
I’m also nervous about my cardiac device replacement surgery next week and the USA November elections.
Here are the kinds of images I capture when I’m nervous.
.
I may be smiling at the Daily Bitch calendar, but I’m nervous about checking my blood INR reading today, because it needs to be between 2.8 and 3.0 for the surgery next week, and that’s a very small margin.
Do I look nervous when I’m performing this song at a live concert?
.
I hope you’re not nervous about leaving a comment, below.
Thanks to all who are here for this nervous blog post, including YOU.
Do you think that people who comment are happy? I think people who express gratitude daily are happy, so thanks to all who helped me create today’s post and — of course! — to YOU.
Since yesterday’s post was about where we start, today I’m giving equal time to where we will end up.
I’m not sure where this post will end up, but let’s start with this teabag:
Yesterday, I ended up happy by facilitating a therapy group where people talked about turkeys and then attending the musical The Color Purple with my sister-in-law Linda.
Yesterday, when I was doing more of what makes me happy — including spending time with people I love, eating delicious and nutritious food, and looking at interesting houses near the water — I saw this at Craig’s Cafe in Quincy, Massachusetts:
Wouldn’t it be great if we could do more of what makes us happy and less of what makes us unhappy? What’s stopping us?
Since it makes me happy to share photos with you, I’m going to do more of that now.
Doing more kitty time, yesterday, made me happy and so did this fortune …
… because it encourages me share more music with you, which makes me happy.
Do more of what makes me happy and please leave a comment, below.
It makes me happy to express more appreciation for all who help me create these daily blog posts and — of course! — for you.
Yesterday, in therapy, somebody described feeling guilty about how good a friend they were to somebody else. We discussed how we humans tend to think of ourselves as all good OR all bad — in friendship, at work, with families, etc. — flipping back and forth between the two extreme judgments of ourselves.
I suggested that this person always think of themselves of a “good enough friend” no matter what, rather than getting caught in the trap of “all or nothing” thinking.
Is this post good enough?
It IS good enough, but I can make it better by adding all the photos I took yesterday.
It’s good enough, here and now, to let you know that last night’s therapy group chose to focus on the topic of “Happy/Happiness.” During that group, I drew the two pictures shown directly above AND I also wrote down the lyrics of this good enough song by Pharrell Williams:
I hope you know that any thoughts or feelings you share here are good enough for me.
