Day 4462: Work

Today is my last day of work before my two-week vacation, which will include a much-anticipated trip to Italy with friends.

Even though I have my dream job — group therapist offering six groups a week to people who really need the support — I still need time off from work to continued to work at my best.

For some reason, I alway have much more work to do the week before I leave for vacation, so I hope this last day of work isn’t as stressful and overloaded as the rest of my work week so far.

What kind of work do you see in my images for today?

.

No matter how hard I work, I can’t find a completely clear and uncluttered list of daily holidays on the internet these days.

I assume I won’t have to work too hard to find a good work video on YouTube.

.

Work sure has changed over the years, hasn’t it?

Thanks to all who are putting in the work to read today’s blog, including YOU!

Day 4272: Work

Thursdays are my longest work day, as I facilitate two online therapy groups, one ending at 7 PM.

I love my work and have no plans to retire. Indeed, I have a joke about this. I say that after I die, I’m going to have my body stuffed and put in a room where I’ll lead groups as a silent therapist.

I don’t know if that joke works in a blog but I hope the rest of this post will work/ werk.

.

My work on social media includes posting those daily lists.

I love RuPaul’s work and here is Supermodel (You Better Work):

.

Thanks to all who are working it, here and now, including YOU!

Day 4001: Lighten Up

This week in my Coping and Healing groups, people told dark stories of medical problems, systemic injustices, and abuse, and yet were still able to lighten up with laughter. At the end of these groups, the members shared how much it helped to lighten up, even for those brief moments.

I shall now do my best to lighten up in this blog post.

.

Thanks to the Daily Bitch, I’m going to lighten up and say that’s it’s okay to have a day when I accomplish nothing.

Here’s what I find when I search for “lighten up” on YouTube.

Thanks to all who help me lighten up, including YOU!!!

Day 3232: Questions

Is there any question that I love to ask questions?

My Twitter handle is inqdragon2, because

  • I’m inquisitive and ask lots of questions,
  • I was born in the year of the dragon,
  • I used the name “Inquisitive Dragon” when a bunch of my friends chose dragon names as part of a fun experience of seeing lots of Jackie Chan’s Hong Kong movies in the 90s, and
  • Somebody else already grabbed the Twitter name “inqdragon.”

My question about that is: what are the odds that somebody else would want that name on Twitter?

Here are just some of my questions about questions:

  • Are there any stupid questions?
  • How do you decide how much you want to reveal in response to a question?
  • If you’re a trial lawyer, is it true that you should only ask questions in court that you know the answer to?
  • Are there other situations where that’s true?
  • Can it help to ask questions that make people uncomfortable?
  • Do some questions violate people’s boundaries?
  • If you ask a question of others, should you be ready and willing to answer it yourself?
  • Is the love of asking questions a good quality for a therapist?
  • Are too many questions annoying?
  • If you ask a question and nobody answers, is it still worthwhile?
  • If you ask a question and lots of people answer, how important is it for you to let people know that you heard their answers?
  • Are yes-or-no questions as useful as open-ended questions?
  • Can you answer any question with “It depends?”
  • Are any of these rhetorical questions?

Is there any question that there will be questions in my images for today?

I love the tune “Question and Answer” by Pat Metheny.

Any questions?

I never question ending my posts with gratitude for YOU.

Day 1092: Dreams

Here are some of my associations with “Dreams” on this Monday of the week between Christmas and the New Year of 2016:

  • This time of year feels particularly dream-like to me,
  • I think and talk a lot about dreams, at work and elsewhere.
  • One of my favorite books is Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill, about the amazing healing that happens when people share dreams in groups.
  • Even though I’ve been living the dream of blogging daily for (almost) three years, I’ve written only four previous posts with “Dreams” in the title (here, here, here, and here).
  • When I got my first cardiac pacemaker at age ten in 1963, my being alive and well over fifty years later was just a dream.
  • I’ve had several dream jobs — including creating the recruitment video for Berklee College of Music in the 1990s — but nothing more satisfying than my current work as a psychotherapist.
  • When I was 44 years old, I consciously gave up the dream of ever having a child.
  • One month later, I found out I was pregnant with my dreamy son, Aaron.
  • Two nights ago I had a dream when I was falling from a great height to certain death, but because I knew I was dreaming, I wasn’t afraid, at all.
  • If a dream comes true and I get a call-back when I try out for The Voice on February 21, I’m going to sing  Mad World, which has this line:

The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had.

Because I was dreaming so much yesterday, I forgot to take many photos. Which of these images seems the most dream-like, to you?

It’s always a dream for me that people feel safe enough to share their dreams,  here and elsewhere.

Dreamy thanks to all who helped me create this post and to all those who read it, here and now.
