Day 3979: Why is everyone so grumpy?

“Why is everyone so grumpy?” is the headline of a recent article in The New York Times.

.

I’m too grumpy to read that article, especially because The New York Times makes me so grumpy lately.

I can think of many reasons why everyone is so grumpy, including

  • the news,
  • the way the media covers the news,
  • rapid changes we cannot control,
  • physical pain,
  • emotional pain,
  • disconnection,
  • overwhelming responsibilities and experiences,
  • trauma,
  • fears about the future,
  • regrets about the past,
  • miscommunication,
  • grumpy strangers, friends, and family members, and
  • the natural proclivity to focus on the negative.

What can we do when everyone is so grumpy? Let’s see if there are any answers in my other images for today.

.

The Daily Bitch is always grumpy and here’s what I find when I search YouTube for “why is everyone so grumpy?”

.

Many thanks to Dr. Tracey Marks, kind creatures everywhere, and all those who help me feel less grumpy, including YOU!

Day 3848: Names

Last night, my husband (whose name is Michael) and I dined at a new restaurant in Dorchester, Massachusetts named Via Cannuccia.

While we were enjoying that delicious and unusual appetizer with the deceptive name of Eggplant Parmigiana, one of the staff came over and said to us, “You know somebody named Christina, right? She called and said her friend Ann is here and she wants to pay for her meals.”

Try as I might, I couldn’t think of a friend named Christina and since nobody except our cats named Joan and Harley knew we were out last night, I told the staff person (whose name I didn’t catch) that there must be another person named Ann or Anne dining in the small restaurant.

As I said to Michael, Ann/Anne is a common name. So common that we are celebrating another Anne today.

.

I’m glad that Anne Hutchinson persevered after being banished from Massachusetts and is being celebrated today.

Our cat named Joan is helping this Ann get new followers on the new social media site named Threads.

That last picture isn’t Joan, it’s our shy cat Harley, whose name makes me wonder about his previous owners who gave him up for adoption. Maybe they were too busy riding their Harley motorcycles to be able to spend time with him. Maybe they were often stomping around in their motorcycle boots, which might explain why he runs away whenever we’re wearing shoes.

Michael’s brother-in-law — whose last name is “Bolger” — is related to this guy we saw on a mural in Dorchester last night.

.

Do you know the name of the city in these two photos I took last night?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “names.”

.

Of course, the name “Ann” isn’t on that list of strong girl names, but I’m still strong!

Thanks to all those who have names, including YOU!

Day 3576: Better days

As I recover from a bad reaction to the booster shot, yesterday was a better day than Friday. I’m thinking today might be even better, especially because I’ll be ZOOMing with my son Aaron and my ex-husband Leon.

Tomorrow, I’ll be facilitating my first in-person therapy group since the beginning of the pandemic and I hope that makes it a better day for approximately eight people. I’ll have markers there in case anyone wants to make the day better by drawing a facial expression on their mask.

Do you see better days in any of these images?

What could be a better day than National Dictionary Day AND Global Cat Day?

Here’s the song I keep hearing in my head as I’m writing this “Better Days” post.

Thanks to all who make my days better and brighter, including YOU.

Day 3548: Still alive

Despite the many close calls I’ve had since I was born in 1953 with a very unusual heart, I’m still alive to blog another day and to share my latest images with you.

.

Tomorrow (which is National Talk Like a Pirate and National Butterscotch Day), this wife will be working from home providing psychotherapy for people who are still alive. (Usually I’m in-person at the hospital on Mondays, but since I’m still alive after my T.I.A. last week, staying home seems like the smart thing to do.) Because my love of group therapy is still alive, my plan is to keep doing this work for as long as I’m still alive.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “still alive.“

.

As long as I’m still alive, I’ll be expressing gratitude for YOU.

Day 3527: Blessings

Yesterday, when I was walking around the town of Melrose with my friend Barbara (who has been a blessing to me for over 60 years), I saw this:

.

Just now, I searched the Internet for more quotes about blessings.

.

Can you see blessings (including the ripples of kind hearts) in my other images for today?

As always, there are many blessings in every day.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for blessings.

Also, I want to share the anxiety-reducing blessings of Marconi Union:

Thanks to all who are blessings to me, including YOU!
