After we cast our votes in our local election yesterday, we were pleased with how the votes came in across the country.
.
I’ve never understood the small percentage of Americans who cast votes in elections and it was good to see the turnout in votes yesterday.
Here’s a question I asked about votes last night on social media:
.
I love those votes.
Who votes for my sharing the rest of my images for today?
I’m going to be on the Therapist Uncensored podcast, which gets my vote. This gets my vote for my best then and now post on Facebook. Who gets your vote for cutest cat ever? This gets my vote for Michael’s latest culinary masterpiece. This gets my vote for best mindful eating cartoon. Which observance gets your vote for today?
In group therapy, we often talk about how our minds tend to focus on what’s wrong. We also discuss how people are often wrong because we’re human and how to forgive ourselves for our mistakes.
Do you see anything wrong with my images for today?
.
Was it wrong that I told my mother that if mothers got Mother’s Day and fathers got Father’s Day that there should be a Children’s Day and she replied, “Every day is Children’s Day”?
I was wrong when I thought “Everybody’s Somebody’s Asshole” would be the most popular song on my live album. Is it wrong of me to include the Spotify and Apple Music links for it here?
Actually it was an irritating co-worker whose views inspired me to write my first original song. Here’s my recent performance of “I Don’t Like You” which has less than 100 views on YouTube.
.
I’m trying to figure out how to get more views for my music, but in the meantime, here is the tweet with an amazing number views:
.
Did you guess which one is generating the most views?
I look forward to your views about views in the comment section, below.
Thanks to all those whose views matter to me, including YOU!
People seemed surprised that our New England weather is so warm near the end of October, although that doesn’t really surprise me. The weather may not be the kind of October surprise that influences the election, but it seems like nothingcan influence the election at this point, which does surprise me.
Surprise! It’s time for my October surprise images.
.
Any surprises there?
Here’s what I find when I search for “October Surprise” on YouTube:

What’s your October surprise?
Thanks to all who are here for this October Surprise post, including YOU.
I’m smart enough to start this post with a definition and quotes from smart people.
.
I’m hoping there are enough smart people in the USA to elect a smart woman as our next President.
Do you see anything smart in my other images for today?
.
It’s August 14 and my smart son and I will be meeting up in Canada for our trip across the Rockies very soon. I hope I’m smart enough to pack everything I need (including my INR monitor and my ukulele). I can’t wait for us to meet my smart blogging friend Maureen!
Here’s what I find when I search for “smart” on YouTube.
.
I’m not smart enough to remember whether I’ve shared that video before but I am smart enough to have a coin-flip app on my phone to help me expend less energy on minor decisions.
What kind of smart is that?
Thanks to all who help me create smart posts, including YOU!
Yesterday, when I couldn’t keep up with the other people in my training class at the hospital for the Electronic Medical Record EPIC, I got very stressed out. Then, when I tried to practice on my own and couldn’t get that to work, I got even more stressed out.
Once I was in a stressed-out state, everything stressed me out — emails, technology, personal interactions, thoughts about the future (like how the go-live date for EPIC and the concert of my original songs are one and the same!), and self doubt about my abilities.
I became less stressed out after I overcame an unexpected glitch on my computer to start my online Coping and Healing therapy group (three minutes late!). I quickly got into the familiar routine of leading a mindfulness exercise and facilitating others’ sharing about their stress. I realized that I was most stressed out about how EPIC would affect my scheduling and documenting my groups in the future. No matter how stressed out I get about that, my groups will go on.
Today, after a good night’s sleep, I’m less stressed out, even though I have to check my INR blood level in a few minutes and later go to physical therapy for my stressed out and clicking jaw.
I hope you don’t get stressed out by my images for today.
In these fast and furious times, I’m working on being slow and calm.
I used to be fast and furious in my single-minded dedication to my work until one day I realized that was bad for my physical and mental health. One of the wake-up calls for me was watching a scene in the movie Whiplash where the young drummer is so desperate, fast, and furious about getting to a performance on time that he risks life and limb, getting into a car accident. As he keeps going — fast, furious, and bleeding — I thought, that’s me. And while Andrew in Whiplash is mostly driven by his critical, cruel, and relentless teacher, I was driven by my relentless and cruel inner critical voice and perfectionism.
It’s taken years for me to change my fast and furious inner critic to one that is slower, calmer, kinder, forgiving, and more mature.
Do you see anything fast and furious in my images for today?
.
On this International Day of Happiness, I’m happy that I can find moments of slow and calm in this fast and furious world.
