Day 4697: What’s the problem

When I was working at the hospital yesterday having many problems with the Epic computer system, I saw this sign:

.

What’s the problem? The problem is that problems with Epic are getting in the way of my getting my work done and that is a trigger for me.

What’s the problem with using music to explain psychological problems?

.

In my Coping and Healing group yesterday, one of the members said they found my Triggers song very helpful, so I had no problem singing it to the group.

If you have a problem understanding the lyrics “certain movements of eyes” in that song, it refers to EMDR therapy. Because I’ve been having so many problems with technology and I want no problems with my appearance on the Therapist Uncensored podcast this Friday, I have scheduled some EMDR sessions with my therapist.

In my work, I don’t like focusing on problems; I focus on solutions. Therefore, “What’s the problem?” is a question I rarely ask. Nevertheless, what’s the problem with my images for today?

I don’t have a problem with the results of an online personality test matching me with these fictional characters.

.

What’s the problem with you leaving a comment, below?

Day 4690: Lessons learned

Lessons learned by me include:

  • There are no “shoulds” about feelings,
  • It’s never (or rarely) what you expect,
  • I tend to catastrophizing (yesterday I was certain Joan the cat had gotten out and had been eaten by a coyote),
  • It’s okay to promote yourself (e.g., my linking to my song “Catastrophizing” in the previous bullet point),
  • Changes (like resetting the clocks and the Epic medical record system I have to use at work) can cause disruption and frustration,
  • I can survive my own and other people’s mistakes, and
  • I can start sharing pictures on this blog with a minimum of introductory text.

Do you see any lessons learned in my images for today?

.

On Use Your Common Sense Day, I am going to use my common sense to vote and to look up “lessons learned” on YouTube:

Day 4585: The Most Curious Thing

The most curious thing about the USA is how people reelected Donald Trump as President.

The most curious thing about ChatGPT is how it helps me while I’m waiting for INR results and other things.

The most curious thing about that last paragraph is that “INR” links to the blog post I wrote in 2016 after my heart valve replacement surgery, rather than a simple definition of INR.

What is the most curious thing in this blog post?

.

The most curious thing is the nostalgia I am feeling about this song I wrote last year about EPIC, the hospital’s Electronic Health Record System.

.

The most curious thing is that you are here for these random thoughts, feelings, pictures, and songs I publish every day!

Day 4124: Stressed Out

Yesterday, when I couldn’t keep up with the other people in my training class at the hospital for the Electronic Medical Record EPIC, I got very stressed out. Then, when I tried to practice on my own and couldn’t get that to work, I got even more stressed out.

Once I was in a stressed-out state, everything stressed me out — emails, technology, personal interactions, thoughts about the future (like how the go-live date for EPIC and the concert of my original songs are one and the same!), and self doubt about my abilities.

I became less stressed out after I overcame an unexpected glitch on my computer to start my online Coping and Healing therapy group (three minutes late!). I quickly got into the familiar routine of leading a mindfulness exercise and facilitating others’ sharing about their stress. I realized that I was most stressed out about how EPIC would affect my scheduling and documenting my groups in the future. No matter how stressed out I get about that, my groups will go on.

Today, after a good night’s sleep, I’m less stressed out, even though I have to check my INR blood level in a few minutes and later go to physical therapy for my stressed out and clicking jaw.

I hope you don’t get stressed out by my images for today.

For National Haiku Poetry Day, here’s a haiku:

When I am stressed out

My thoughts are like frightened birds

Reeling in the sky.

Day 4123: Joy

I feel joy when it’s spring and when I see joyful creations on my walks, including the joy created by my neighbor Rob, whose artwork has appeared in many of my blog posts.

Yesterday, when I was taking photos of the latest joyful creations from Rob, his wife Martha invited me inside their home to see Rob’s studio and their two new joy-giving cats.

Do you see joy in my images for today?

On National Stress Awareness Day, I’ll be trying not to stress as I attend a six-hour EPIC training at work, starting at 7 AM. Oh, joy!

Maybe I’ll spread some joy today by singing my EPIC song:

Day 4051: Harbingers

In this daily blog, titles can be harbingers of definitions, quotes, photos, and other images.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for “harbingers” on YouTube.

.

Major changes can be harbingers of distrust, fear, and resistance, so that’s why I made this video about my hospital’s upcoming conversion to the Epic software system.

.

The endings of my blog posts are harbingers of comments and gratitude for YOU!
