Day 3997: Find Beauty Everywhere

Yesterday, in a hospital gift shop, I found this request to find beauty everywhere.

.

Believe me, I try to find beauty everywhere, but that’s very challenging these days.

For example, it will be very difficult for many of us to find beauty anywhere if Donald Trump (who seems to be everywhere) is re-elected President. Last night, I even found him in a nightmare, which was the opposite of beautiful.

For now, let’s see if we can find beauty everywhere in this post.

.

I find beauty in the Daily Bitch and here’s what I find when I search for “Find Beauty Everywhere.”

.

Beautiful thanks to Liis Burket and to all who help me find beauty everywhere, including YOU.

Day 3963: Facial expressions

In yesterday’s blog post, I referenced an article on a study about the variety of cats’ facial expressions.

I am very aware of facial expressions, even those on a pumpkin.

.

I particularly notice facial expressions that show some level of distress or anger. Thinking about facial expressions yesterday, I started writing two new songs, including “Other People’s Anger.”

.

I wonder about my readers’ facial expressions as I reveal that the other new song is “It’s Hard to Get Shit Done When You’re Scared Shitless.”

Let’s see what facial expressions show up in my other images for today.

.

Rather than let the Daily Bitch have the last word on facial expressions, here’s what I find when I search for “facial expressions” on YouTube.

.

What are your thoughts, feelings, and facial expressions about all this?

My facial expression, here and now, reflects my gratitude to all who help me blog daily, including YOU!

Day 3376: Assumptions

I’m assuming I’ve written about assumptions before. That’s because so many people assume and if you’ve heard the joke about people who assume and asses and you and me, you could assume that assumptions can get us into trouble.

Do you have any assumptions about why I’m writing about this today?

Somebody posted that on Twitter yesterday and I assume this is relevant, here and now, because assumptions are everywhere. I assume that if I look at the news, I’ll find assumptions wreaking havoc all around the world.

Now I’m checking my assumption that there are some great quotes about assumptions.

.

Do you have any assumptions about the rest of my images for today?

I have no assumptions about why March 30 is such an action-packed National Day. My assumption is that I could take a walk in the park on National Virtual Vacation Day because I’m working virtually from home and I’m off on Wednesday afternoons. However, because assumptions often don’t come true (which I assume you’ve gleaned from this post), I may not be in control on National I Am in Control Day.

If you looked at all of my images above, I assume that this song might be going through your head:

I don’t have any assumptions about what kinds of comments I’m going to get about this “assumptions” post.

Regular readers of this blog probably have assumptions about my ending this post with gratitude, and they’re right!

Day 3361: Intimacy

Today’s title is inspired by the Daily Bitch Calendar.

As a therapist and a clinical social worker, I am familiar with people’s different experiences and struggles with intimacy. Here are some quotes about intimacy:

.

Can you see intimacy in any of the other images I’m sharing today?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “intimacy.”

I also find this:

.

Thanks to all who help me create the kind of intimacy that exists in this blog, including YOU.

Day 3312: People’s responses

In the past, I’ve sometimes been hesitant to say or do something for fear of people’s responses. The responses I’ve feared have included:

  • anger,
  • disinterest,
  • new upsetting information,
  • misunderstandings,
  • hurt feelings,
  • needless worry,
  • judgment,
  • more work for me,
  • disconnection, and
  • no response at all.

I continually work on the courage to say and do what’s important without fear of people’s responses.

I wonder what people’s responses will be to today’s images:

I wonder what people’s responses will be to today’s National Days? And I assume that people’s responses to Michael’s first attempt at banana bread would be similar to mine: “OMG! This is so delicious!”

This is the first thing that pops up on YouTube when I search for “people’s responses”:

It helps me to know about other people’s responses to non-responsiveness.

No matter what people’s responses are, I’m grateful for you, every day!

Day 3285: Advice

I don’t like to give advice, but I’m happy to share other people’s thoughts about advice.

Do you see any advice in my other images for today?

.

Here’s “Good Advice” by Allan Sherman.

I don’t like to give advice, but I’m happy to read your thoughts and feelings about advice.

If I had to give one piece of advice, it would be this: let people know how much you appreciate them, every day!

Day 3119: What is your earliest memory?

Last night, I asked the question “What is your earliest memory?” in my Coping and Healing group. People said they found that very helpful. So, after the group, I asked the same question on Twitter.

My earliest memory is from before I was walking. I was outdoors and my sister was lying on the ground next to me. I remember wondering: “Why is she doing that? She can walk!” That memory stayed with me because my parents were posing us for a photo, and I kept seeing the photo of the two of us in the family album.

Even back then, I was asking questions.

Here are some of my not-so-early memories, captured in photos:

The Daily Bitch is very memorable.

One of my earliest memories of music is of my father listening — on a very old radio — to “Witchcraft” sung by Frank Sinatra.

Now I’m asking you: What is your earliest memory?

Thanks to all who have memories and to those who ask questions and answer them, including YOU!

Day 3004: Learning the hard way

Do you see examples of learning the hard way in today’s images?

We seem to be learning the hard way about gun violence and common sense gun laws in the USA.

There is some learning the hard way in “The Gun Song” from Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins.

Thanks to all who helped me create this “Learning the Hard Way” post, as we all keep learning the hard way together.

Day 2969: The answer

People are often looking for the answer. In order to know what the answer is, we probably need to know what the question is.

Is the answer in today’s Daily Bitch calendar?

Is the answer on Twitter?

.

Is the answer in the photos I took yesterday?

.

Is the answer in the video featured in this tweet?

.

Is the answer in other videos posted by The Dodo, like this one …

… or this one?

.

Is the answer in the comments section, below?

Is the answer in expressing gratitude, here and now?

Day 2965: Not Freaking Out

In my Coping and Healing groups yesterday, we talked about not freaking out.

I wrote and shared a poem:

I am also not freaking out by capturing and sharing images.

As I asked on Twitter this morning, who’s freaking out? And if you’re not freaking out, how are you doing that?

I’m not freaking out by blogging and expressing gratitude here, every day.
