I try to avoid exaggerating because I value authenticity and honesty.
Exaggerating can make a better story, but I hope I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve done that very few times.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that I will be going to more than one protest on Saturday and that I hope to sing my protest song “You Don’t Scare Me.”
I’m also not exaggerating when I say that I usually have trouble spelling “exaggerating” because I think different letters should be doubled.
Because I dislike exaggerating, I just rewrote the last sentence, changing “always” to “usually.”
I’m also not exaggerating when I point out that humans tend to think in all-or-nothing ways (“always” and “never” rather than “usually”).
Do you see exaggerating in my photos for today?

I’m not exaggerating about this: I submitted this to a songwriting contest yesterday even though I know it’s very unlikely to win.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating my talent as a songwriter. I believe a lot of people downplay their own talents for fear of being seen as exaggerating (and conceited).
I’m not exaggerating about this: almost all the people I work with are terrified of overestimating their worthiness while they have no problem underestimating that — exaggerating their flaws to an excessive degree.
What are your thoughts and feelings about exaggerating?
I’m never exaggerating when I write that I am deeply grateful for YOU.

You say it like you see it, Ann.
As do you, my friend!
glad you’ll be doing your song at the protests!
It was fun, beth!
I exaggerate when I tell people I tied my children to chairs and read them the whole of The Lord of the Rings. My son, who was nine at the time, claims to have listened willingly, and my daughter, who was almost none, likely slept through the whole thing. But still, it’s a good story because a) nobody believes it and b) it makes me sound more hardass than I actually am. 🙂
Your stories are great, Barbara, and I’m not exaggerating.
“I’d like to win the Grammy” might my favourite of your songs. It feels like I switch my favorite every few days but this really is a gem. It’s so funny! However, you do not need to win any award in order for us to listen to you because you already one our hearts. And also, even though you have many things to say, you are a very good listener!
I am not exaggerating when I say that you are my biggest supporter, Maureen.
There’s a saying that you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take and I’m glad you’re taking a shot by submitting your song.
You are 100% correct, my good friend.
