Day 4795: Being happy

When I was high school valedictorian, I wrote and delivered a speech called “The Irrational Pursuit of Happiness.” I believe it was about the ephemeral nature of being happy but I can’t remember many other details. I just remember being happy about the opportunity to speak to my classmates about my thoughts, feelings, and values.

Today’s Daily Bitch Calendar has some advice on being happy.

.

Yesterday, I was being happy about spending time with my husband Michael shopping for a new kitty litter box and a new recycling bin to replace the one destroyed by a snow plow last week.

.

When I was a high school senior, I didn’t picture myself being happy about such things.

Do you see being happy in my other images for today?

.

My happiness goal for February 17 is being happy whether or not the interview about my music shows up on the Therapist Uncensored podcast today.

Here’s what I find when I search for “Being Happy” on YouTube:

.

What are your thoughts and feelings about being happy?

Thanks to all who contribute to my being happy, including YOU!

Day 4186: Wonderfully weird

Whereas I felt bad about being weird when I was kid (due to my weird heart condition), these days I am proud of being wonderfully weird!

Do you see anything wonderfully weird in my images for today?

.

There are many wonderfully weird things out there and this is what I found on YouTube when I searched for “wonderfully weird”:

.

Thanks to all the wonderfully weird ones who make my life weirdly wonderful, including YOU!

Day 3793: It’s not the end of the world

“It’s not the end of the world” is something I like to say to myself and others in response to the very common cognitive distortion of catastrophizing.

It’s not the end of the world if we

  • make a mistake,
  • say the wrong thing,
  • have lapses of memory,
  • don’t show up for something,
  • don’t get what we want, or
  • lose somebody (although that can feel like the end of the world).

Of course, if too many of us do nothing to save our endangered world, that could mean the end of the world in the future. However, it’s not the end of the world today, even if today is End of the World or Rapture Party Day.

It’s not the end of the world if I have only a few images to share with you today.

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “it’s not the end of the world.”

.

It’s not the end of the world and I’m grateful for that and for you!
