I don’t want to be taking up too much space here explaining that I — and many other women I know — sometimes worry about taking up too much space.
In order to let go of that worry, I’ve practiced taking up too much space at concerts, for example, momentarily stretching out like a cat or using my elbows to establish territory.
So I don’t mind if I’m taking up too much space sharing my images for today.
Because I’m using the Noom app to change my eating habits, cheesecake is not taking up too much space here these days. Narcissists, however, are always taking up too much space, no matter where they are.
Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “taking up too much space.”
Yesterday, when the wonderful hands of Mia from MiAlisa Salon were giving me a hands-down fabulous haircut, Mia told me about a beautiful way she has been self-soothing during these hard times. She holds her own hand.
Mia said that she held and held her mother’s hand in her hand while her mother was dying, and she misses her mother. Now, when she clasps her own two hands together, she feels powerfully comforted, settled, and anchored. Mia said holding hands with herself also helps her fall asleep.
I told Mia that I have been encouraging people in my Coping and Healing groups to give themselves hugs and that I will add clasping their own hands to the self-soothing repertoire.
And I am happy to report, this morning, that holding hands with myself helped me sleep through the night for the first time in months!
My sleep is also being helped by the growing certainty that my country will soon be in better hands. For the past four years, the USA has been in the hands of a toxic narcissist.
Speaking of hands, if anyone wants to see me play the ukulele with my own hands tomorrow evening, please sign up to be in the audience before the end of the day today using this link:
Because some things bear repeating, here‘s that amazing video from the Cleveland Clinic:

When I was in my 20’s, I used to ask people this question:
Do you think there are more mean people or more stupid people in this world?
In retrospect, I think I was trying to make sense of — and better understand — people who seemed so foreign to me. (I also think I was trying to make sense of — and better understand — the mean and stupid parts of myself, but that’s another story.) Today, I want to ask this question:
Do you think there are more narcissists or more empaths in this world?
I am happy to report that, based on my 66 years of experience in this world, I firmly believe there are more empaths than narcissists. (The jury is still out on whether there are more mean people or stupid people.)
Do you see any narcissists or empaths in my photos from yesterday?
Feel free to express any opposites in a comment, below.
Empathic thanks to those who help me express healthy narcissism in my daily posts and — of course! — special thanks to YOU.
