Day 4920: Recognition

What does recognition mean to you?

Here’s a definition of recognition:

.

Here’s my recognition of what other people have said about recognition.

.

I wonder if we have the simultaneous recognition that the Cartier-Bresson quote is a good segue to the rest of my images for today.

.

Here’s what I find when I search for recognition on YouTube.

.

Now it’s time for recognition of how important you are to me.

One realization has helped me somewhat. Recognizing that I am not all that unique, in that I am not the only one who feels this way or thinks this or that. That I am not alone in this world. I know that, like snowflakes, each of us is actually unique – just check your fingerprints – but we are each an amalgam of so many others that although there is no one in the world exactly like me, there are enough that I need never feel completely alone.

  3. A lot of my job is answering emails from people having trouble with library resources. Some I recognize from previous conversations. Some I’ll only talk to once. I recognize that every one is a person. In a world where AI is increasingly being used to replace human interaction I hope they recognize the same thing.
