Even though I am very cautious and (I thought!) clever about scams and even though I actually wrote a blog post about scams this week, I got scammed yesterday.
While I was in the midst of managing the release of my single “Artificial Intelligence” and many problems at work, I wasn’t intelligent enough to not be scammed by a very convincing and incredibly well-timed email about my mobile phone payment. After I entered a second credit card number (but NOT my social security number, thank goodness), I suspected I had been scammed.
I was waiting to get callbacks from my mobile phone carrier and my bank to corroborate and report that I had been scammed as my online Coping and Healing group was about to begin. I hoped the group members didn’t feel scammed when I told them I was on an important call and to start the group without me.
The helpful rep from my mobile phone carrier researched the history of emails to me and we both agreed I had been scammed. The nice rep from my bank immediately told me she had also been scammed, which made me feel better about being scammed and having to cancel two credit cards.
When I rejoined the group, I told them I had been scammed. Some members shared how that helped them feel less shame about being scammed in the past.
Then, in EMDR therapy, I tried to release all my shame and fears about being scammed.
Here are the images I gathered on the day I was scammed.

Yes, I am writing about being scammed on Dunce Day.

Who knew that dunce caps were a scam?
Here’s what I find when I search for “scammed” on YouTube.

Thanks to all who are here for this scammed blog post, including YOU!

So sorry, this has happened to me, and I’m guessing, it has happened to most all of us at one time or another
There are so many scams, beth, and thanks for sharing that.
I guess I’m lucky because, except for that time in SF, I’m not prone to buy “bargains,” but in my defense that buy in SF was no bargain! LOL!
We do our best, Barbara.
