Day 4538: Titles

When I was on the train to NYC, I shared some of my song titles with people I’d just met. They told me they did NOT like my title “I’d Like to Win the Grammy for Best New Artist.” When I sang them the song, they changed their minds.

Here’s the song with that title:

.

The title of yesterday’s blog post was “Decisions, decisions.” One of the decisions, decisions I’ve been struggling with for over a year is whether the audio from that song (and all the other songs I performed at the venue with the title “Lilypad”) are good enough for release to Spotify or whether I need to record them again.

Title me “Unsure” and “Ambivalent.”

In the meantime, I started writing a new song yesterday with the title “What’s Wrong with Looking Older?”

.

I wonder what people are going to think about that title and that song.

My friend Janet’s new book has an interesting title.

.

I wrote Janet yesterday that her title was particularly apt because that volume really vanished: the wind had blown the delivery package under our Japanese Maple where it lay hidden for days. Janet replied, “Wow! I should’ve called it Gone With the Wind.”

How might you title my other images for today?

.

Title me grateful yesterday, today, and tomorrow for wonderful people like YOU.

  1. I love both of your songs and your performance of “I’d Like to Win the Grammy for Best New Artist” is great..and Spotify-worthy. I can identify with it, actually.

  2. There’s lots to appreciate with our aging selves, you are so right, Ann.

  3. Especially wise words from The Daily Bitch

A friend of mine and I were bemoaning the fact that, in spite of long and thoughtful posts composed in articulate, sometimes literary, prose, we have never come anywhere near becoming a public intellectual. Nothing we write seems to get picked up and sailed around the world of the internet. I did get 35 likes for a pithy post on Bluesky the other day, but that same post got 2 views and no likes on XTwitter. We consider each other totally brill – that is, she calls me brilliant and I tell folks she’s the brilliant one. Nevertheless. Sigh.

  5. I really like the title and lyrics of your new song, What’s Wrong with Looking Older?

  6. I really love everythign with cheese

  7. I love your song about the Grammy and your new song got me thinking about how at times—the 18th century, for instance, the so-called “Age of Reason”, old age was so revered young people wore white wigs and carried canes. After all the older someone is the more they’ve survived.
