As a psychotherapist, I’ve been trained to recognize delusions and work with people who have them.
Personally, I have never seen so many people operating under so many delusions at the same time. In the USA, this seems to the Age of Delusion and I wonder when (and if!) millions of people are going to be de-delusioned.
What delusions can you find in my images for today?

.
Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for delusions:

Thanks to all who are here for this delusions post, including YOU!

Turkeys abound in your blog today, Ann!
Lots of turkeys around us, Mark!
I love watching wild turkeys. Somewhat flightless but they do fly. Sound like a Huey Helicopter taking off when they get those wings flapping.
Delusion: That there is an American Dream and it’s achievable. I was led to believe that if I worked hard in school and prayed hard in church and did right by the country, that I would have it made. So I endeavored such that I was near the top of my class. Prayed so hard that members of my family thought I was destined for the seminary and the priesthood. Was a boy scout, Civil Air Patrol, US Army where I served honorably. Ah, but when I went to look for a job, they had none. When I did finally find a job and I was ready to buy a house, my salary did not cut it. When I went to improve my salary, they said No we are hiring someone else. They said it’s not enough. They said I’m not enough. I should have run the race faster.
It took me too long to realize this delusion. There is no American Dream. There is no meritocracy. Cronyism and Nepotism. All that really matters is whether your parents/ grandparents were thieves: good thieves- those who stole their employees’ labor to make themselves richer or; bad thieves those who stole valuables and lives and served time in prison. Both are thieves. It’s just that some are exalted and praised and others shunned.
Too many turkeys are control in the USA, my friend.
Wild turkeys forage free in Madison as well. I love catching sight of them, especially in my own back yard. Which is fenced, so they would have had to lift off a little to get over it. As for delusions, I agree with Stan Kosick. I think I grew up thinking that the American Dream was that here you had the “freedom to pursue your dreams.” That has somehow morphed over the years into “everybody’s dream is to get rich.” But I found out that in order to pursue your dreams, you had to support yourself, which meant a job, which meant no time for dream pursuing. And in order to get rich, you had to have rich-getting skills. Seguey to thievery of some kind. Didn’t someone say something about the eye of a needle leading to heaven/land of dreams?
You have few delusions, my wise friend.
the turkeys and cats are clearly in charge of the neighborhood and perhaps that is a good thing )
It’s always a good thing when you’re here, Beth.
Oscar Wilde said “Give a man a mask and he’ll tell the truth.” He was very wise but even masked I think some still won’t tell the truth.
It takes one very wise person to know another one, my friend.
