Day 4537: Decisions, decisions

I know I’ve written before about how I can struggle with decisions, decisions. When there are too many options, I can worry about not having the information I need to make the “right” choice.

When I’ve spoken to people in therapy about their worries about making decisions, decisions, I’ve pointed out that our all-or-nothing thinking brains tend to think in extreme terms of wrong or right, upping the stakes on decisions, decisions we need to make. Also, we forget that if we make a decision, decisions we regret, we can also make further decisions, decisions in the future to help the situation.

Right now, I’m considering a decision, decision to get a new phone. Many people have suggested that my decision, decision to hold on to my iPhone 8 for years, years might not have been the best decision, decision (although I had a fun conversation recently with an IT specialist about how he has done the same with his iPhone 8).

Why is getting a new phone such a scary, scary decision, decision for me? Because I am happy with my current phone, even if it’s slow and limited in its capabilities. The familiar, familiar often feels safer than the unknown phone.

Do you see decisions, decisions in my images for today?

.

So I finally made the decision, decision to go with the music distribution platform LANDR after previously making the wrong decision about how to distribute my original songs. Here’s the protest song that will be appearing soon on Spotify and elsewhere!

.

I wonder if I’ve the right decisions, decisions about that recording? Oh well, time will tell.

Thanks to all who have made the decision, decision to read this blog post until the end, including YOU!

  1. Here’s to lots of folks appreciating your songs, Ann.

  2. you’ll do fine and can always trade it back if you don’t like it. nothing that can’t be changed but I think you’ll like it over time

  3. Stan Kosick

Teddy Roosevelt “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” ALSO TR “Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”

Brene Brown’s Daring Greatly was a great motivator for me. I directly attribute her work to my successes of late. I dared to do and, while some setbacks occurred, some huge leaps forward occurred as well.

The decision is easy. It is living with the decision that is tough. As the saying goes, You sleep in the bed you made. Sometimes it’s not comfortable. The important part is to understand, that unless the decision was to destroy something that cannot be rebuilt, it can be rethought.

  4. I think you do usually make the right decisions, almost always in fact; + the very, very rare occasion when you perhaps later wish you had chosen differently, you find a way to work with with the decision that you made. That’s been my observation of you over more than a decade. I think you can trust your gut. In the case of a new phone, the very worst that can happen is that it might take a little while to get used to. But you also might find that you transfer all the settings and data over easily and that it’s an easier adjustment than with your previous phones. There will likely be some benefits to a new phone or you wouldn’t even be considering it. In the case of your music, this is a huge adventure + every decision is going to be right, one way or another.
