Well, dear readers, I’ve made it to age seventy-two!
Now that I’ve miraculously reached this advanced age, I have to rewrite the first line of my song “Shameless Appeals for Applause.”
Any ideas?
While many people have negative feelings about age (some right-wing jerk on Twitter called me an “old hag” last week), I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be this age. That’s why I never lie about or conceal my age; instead, I brag about it.
Do you see age in my images for today?

.
From a very young age I’ve known that my birthday was Groundhog Day, but it took this advanced age to find out that it is also World Play Your Ukulele Day!
Thanks to all who are helping me to celebrate my age, including YOU!

Happy birthday Ann!!
Thanks, Debbie!
happy birthday, ann, and here’s to many more! you clearly were born on the right day, and glad you chose to play a ukulele and not a groundhog )
I love this comment, beth.
It continues to be a great privilege and joy to be on the ride with you- your indomitable vitality; the delight filled mischief-wielding troubadour, a life participant, a deeply kind and wise presence, fabulous friend, mother, wife, family member, therapist, feline adorer, and all the other ways you are here, —-Happy Birthday, darling Ann! Love you♥️
I love you too, Carol, and I’m honored to share a birthweek with you.
Happy Birthday from Karen and I, Ann! We stand proudly with you as always.
Thank you so much, my friend!
Happy Birthday! Congratulations on 72 revolutions around the sun! Here’s to many more!
Many thanks!
I asked my husband’s 98 (at the time, she lived to be almost 103) year old aunt once how old she felt like. She thought about it for a bit, longer than I had thought she would. She said she felt like she was 69. If I were to feel that much younger than I am I’d feel like I was 38 or so…and I don’t feel THAT young…but I do feel that I’m maybe still in my 50s. Most of the time anyway.
Happy birthday to YOU! Get to working on amending that song!
Thank you for sharing all this, Dawn!
Happy Birthday, Ann! As a friend of mine pointed out recently, she has always looked forward to being old. Being old, to her, meant being able to read whenever and for however long she wanted to. I know you still work, and that you still love your work, but know this. When the time comes for you to put it aside, you will have more time to read, whenever and for however long you want to.
I try to make time to read what I can, Barbara, and I always love reading your comments.
Happy birthday, Ann! I think I’m acting my age by being so happy for friends’ birthdays. They’ve always been great occasions but the days when my parents would buy a gift and drive me to someone’s house and we’d have cake are behind me. Now it’s all just being happy you’re here
I’m very happy that you’re here, my good friend.
Wishing you a fine ol’ b-day, Ann. I had my 70 a week ago and it was great!
Thanks, my fine ol’ friend!
