In my Coping and Healing groups, members sometimes express gratitude for safe spaces where they have room to express themselves authentically and to realize they are not alone.
I think we are all looking for safe spaces. Do you see safe spaces in my images for today?

.
Here’s what I find when I search for “safe spaces” on YouTube.

Later today, my husband Michael (who helps create safe spaces for me) will be going to a new space that’s safe for cats and humans — A Sanctuary Cafe in Boston.
I hope the comments section, below, is a safe place for you to express thoughts and feelings about this Safe Spaces post.
Thanks to all who help create safe spaces for others, including YOU.

so very important to find those places within ourselves as well as out in the world
Enjoy the cat cafe! That sounds wonderful!
We have to do what we can, Ann. Good find, Michael.
I feel discombobulated right now in my better moments and arcing with anxiety in my worst. Going to a cat sanctuary cafe sounds like an ideal plan! Well we have one old, cranky cat who is good at reminding us of our priorities, so I will make a cup of tea and sand the ceiling I just repaired after the leak, and then hang out with our cat. The rain might stop.
My safe space is right here in my old swivel chair in front of my computer, keyboard and 30-in. monitor, with a jigsaw puzzle in progress to my left and some other projects on the table to my right, a cup of Twinings chai with spiced apple at my left hand, my 3 daily pills to be taken at 2 lined up in front of me, and handy lists of things to do. I feel safe enough here to post what I please, here being one important place. And speaking of that, how about that new Secretary of Defense, huh? And doesn’t Steven Miller (forget if he’s a v or a ph) remind you just a little bit of Freddie Krueger?
Tonight in my writing group, before we started reading the week’s pieces, we talked about grief and loss since some people had lost family members recently and one of the stories was about someone’s mother dying. I miss the in-person meetings we used to have at a local library but I like that meeting online we’ve created a safe space for people no matter where they are.
Thanks for making so many spaces safer, my friend.
