Day 4335: Sanctuaries

Yesterday I wrote about space spaces; today it’s sanctuaries. I’m sticking with this topic because so many of us need sanctuaries since last week’s elections.

Here’s a definition of “sanctuary”:

.

Boston is a sanctuary city for immigrants.

.

Boston’s new cat cafe, which my husband Michael and I visited yesterday, is called “A Sanctuary Cafe.”

What sanctuaries do you see in my images for today?

.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “sanctuaries.”

.

Thanks to all who provide sanctuaries for others, including YOU.

Ann, I have severed my ties to twitter but I so glad to receive your blog via email.
You asked if there is a silver lining. I would not go so far as to say there is a precious metal lining or even a soft satiny lining. However, I would say there is more to recent events than what meets the eye. Why? RFKjr and Tulsi Gabbard.
During the primaries leading up to the 2020 election, I was full in camp Tulsi running as Democrat. In fact, I told my wife I thought the ticket should have Pete Buttigiege and Tulsi Gabbard. Not that I am upset with Biden or Harris, but I saw this younger pair as really smashing some barriers. Alas, Tulsi was snubbed by the DNC. Okay, she has made the rounds on the conservative news circuit. But I do not believe her to be totally rightist. Her language, while unsavory to the Far Left, is far more moderate than most MAGAts’. I believe she will be a moderating force.
In RFKjr we have a Kennedy family heir who apparently shares his family’s penchant for women as well as harboring interesting ideals on road kill. Again, here is a Democrat infiltrating the MAGA camp. A moderate voice in an otherwise deafening caucophy of MAGAts.

So I got to thinking… What if this is the plan? Kennedy is wants to make sure our food and drugs are safer. If Trump allows it, this could mean fewer pesticides and other pollutants in our water and food (I type this two weeks after the local farmers had glyphosate sprayed on their crops).
What if Kennedy is successful in bringing changes to food safety and our food is cleaner? What if our water is cleaner? What if our air is cleaner? Maybe the FDA and the EPA have been working against each other when they should have been working together.
RE Tulsi Gabbard- What if we are only focused on terrorist issues? The US has been the world’s police agency for decades. What if that stops?

There could be a gold lining in all of this.

  4. Joan and Harley have found sanctuary at your house and I have found sanctuary at the Days of Living Non-Judgmentally

My home is my sanctuary, and at my age there are few occasions for leaving it – fine with me. I’m a hermit. But more than that is this site, the Tolkien professor, podcasts like Why Is This Happening and Unclear and Present Danger, not to mention The Rest is History. My 1500 piece jigsaw puzzle which is proceeding much slower than usual – but it is proceeding. I’ll never assume these little cottage with flower gardens are easy peasy again. And we will see if there is some virtue in Thun instead of Scott as Majority Leader. A good thing?

  6. Anywhere there are cats is a sanctuary to me. Also dogs. Our oldest dog is curled up next to me right now. He’s thirteen and over the past two weeks has had major surgery to remove a kidney tumor and several trips to the emergency vet. He’s been so good to us. Now I want to return that to him, whatever that means.
