I was so disgusted with Reagan’s win over Carter back in the day that I seceded from the union and didn’t vote for 8 years. Bad move, I suppose. But I like what I decided to do instead. If I couldn’t have the country I wanted, I would insist on having the home I wanted, one that was welcoming, loving, and caring. I would make my own little country. Can’t say I was always successful, but that is still my mantra today, now that I am back voting with a vengeance. That is what I call self care.

Yesterday I gave myself some self-care by meeting a friend for coffee. I don’t think there’s anything selfish about taking self-care a day early.
