Day 4204: Trouble sleeping

Because of my fears about the upcoming USA elections, last night I had trouble sleeping.

Whenever I’m distressed, I do what I can to realize that I am not alone, like reaching out to friends who also have trouble sleeping. Because I have trouble disturbing anybody else’s sleep, I posted on Twitter.

.

While other people’s pain hurts, it did help to know that I wasn’t alone. So I finally fell back to sleep.

Earlier in the day of the night I had trouble sleeping, I asked these other questions on Twitter.

I wonder if I’ll have trouble sleeping again tonight? The word of the day doesn’t help.

.

Joan never has trouble sleeping.

I want to be more like Joan.

Harley doesn’t have trouble sleeping either, even though he is a very anxious kitty.

.

I wonder if the Daily Bitch ever has trouble sleeping.

Now, that’s a ridiculous coincidence because last night I also had trouble sleeping because I realized I had forgotten to take my pills the day before, which aways scares me.

Even though I had trouble sleeping last night, I won’t forget to post today’s World Observances.

.

Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I like to listen to a soothing voice, like Pema Chödrön’s.

.

What to do you do when you have trouble sleeping?

Thanks to all who are reading this “Trouble Sleeping” post, including YOU.

  1. During my dear wife Karen’s work week, I get up early with her to keep company in her get-ready routine and then drive her to work, Ann, and then I stay up to my usual time. Thus, I sleep less those days. So on her three days off, I find I have no trouble catching up on my sleep at all.

  2. I don’t sleep well and often watch Big Bang Theory on my tablet in bed starting around 1 AM. That way I at least enjoy insomnia instead of letting my thoughts chew me up.

I will likely see more BBT than usual this weekend as it’s going to be a scorcher and we don’t have air conditioning. 🙂

Oddly enough, I’m sleeping fine, although I had insomnia for years. Now I have a half goblet of wine while listening to a favorite podcast, then take a slug of a Nyquil equivalent, read for half an hour or so, and then sleep. Keeping the TV on low (MSNBC), a repetition of news I’ve already heard, keeps my mind from wandering in its own darkness.

  4. I posted about sleeping today as well. Finally retired after so many years of waking up very early , trying to see if I can learn to sleep a little longer

  5. I worry about sleeping too much. It’s important to me to be awake and woke.

  6. I relate to the not sleeping, as I too am an insomniac, and always have trouble sleeping, that relaxation video was nice, Anne!
