I saw this powerful pronouncement at the supermarket yesterday:

While this was an attempt by a powerful corporation to sell a product …

… I choose to take it as a powerful reminder that I am powerful. And I need to use what power I have to help remove powerful and awful people from their positions of power.
What is the most powerful image in my blog today?

Thanks to all the powerful people who are here for this powerful post, including YOU!

I think it was reading “Kristin Lavransdatter” that I discovered the secret to a woman’s power in the household. I had been a little dismissive of the role of housekeeper, in general, but when Kristin was handed the keys to the house – which included keys to the buttery, the pantry, and all other rooms that took care of the household, that she knew she had power. I started to see people like my mother and grandmother as much more powerful than I had thought them to be – it helped that they were both Norwegians. I had always rebelled against that role, but something about that book inspired me to try to be a worthy descendant.
I’ve been reading an anthology of post-colonial science fiction by mostly Southeast Asian and Indigenous American authors. It’s very inspiring to read stories by people who come from very different backgrounds than the old science fiction writers I read growing up and to still find them relatable.
You HAVE been busy! I need to kick the winter blues out of the house and get going on some adventures too!
Do it, Claudia!
