Day 4752: Giving Up

While today’s title might mean giving up

  • hope,
  • group therapy
  • creating new music,
  • blogging,
  • cats,
  • looking for a cure for the annoying clicking noises I hear when I talk,
  • taking action, or
  • the fight for Justice,

it doesn’t!

It means giving up something (alcohol or otherwise) for Dry January.

Last night I asked a question about giving up on social media.

.

Because I’m giving up negative self talk, I was easily able to release an AI-arranged version of my song “Everybody’s Sokebody’s Asshole” yesterday.

If you can’t access the song today, don’t be giving up — it will be available elsewhere very soon.

Now it’s time for me to be giving up my other images for today.

.

While the Daily Bitch is giving up on work, I’m returning to the hospital today after a week’s vacation because I am never giving up on my patients.

Here’s what I find on YouTube when I search for “giving up.”

.

Thanks to all who are not giving up on this blog, including YOU!

    Happy New Year, ANN!

Dry January??? Who would think of such a thing??? No I am not a big drinker. 1 maybe 2 drinks per week.

No I am not giving up anything. I am doubling down on my resistance to this Administration and those who support it. Give up?? I have not yet begun to fight!!

I’ve been known, here and a little elsewhere, for dissing my mostly excellent son for a few shortcomings (he should have complied, he will tell me when I mention another cop on black guy violation). I could also complain that he has forbidden me to put out critter food on the back deck. Seems we have developed a racoon problem and he is convinced they are going to damage the foundation.

And then last night, while mulling this and other things over, it occurred to me that a. this is very Christopher behavior. He was always one for following the rules and choosing safe pathways. And b. that it is because of this very behavior that I have a safe harbor in which to spend my old age. And by safe harbor, I don’t mean only that I have a roof over my head. I also mean that that roof is a safe one. He has been adamant that the house is secure with a new roof and siding, a new heating and cooling system, and that the foundations are safe from unwelcome incursions. And he’s not doing any of that for me. He’s doing that because that is who he is.

And so I hope to give up this fruitless whining about who my son has turned out to be in real life and to celebrate that this is who he actually is. And I plan to tell him so. Today.

  4. I’d forgotten that today is Twelfth Night. I’d really like to give up dwelling on things from the past that I can’t change but I don’t want to give up a chance to celebrate because the rain it raineth every day.
