Day 4582: Listening

My job, as a group therapist, is creating safe spaces for listening and sharing.

My avocation, as a songwriter, is creating music worth listening to.

Yesterday, as I was listening to co-workers during a team-building exercise, I found out about these signs that are showing up at a pedestrian walkway in Somerville.

.

After listening to that, I had to find out more.

.

I love listening to cats.

Here are some listening quotes:

.

Here’s what I’ve been listening to:

.

Here are more images for today’s listening post.

.

I’m listening to the Daily Bitch, among others.

Now, as recommended by Wendy (above), I’m listening to Amos Lee.

.

Finally, it’s time to be listening to my gratitude for YOU!

More podcasts… Unclear and Present Danger: Jamelle Bouie and John Ganz talk about (mostly) action movies and what they say about the politics of the times they were made; The Rest is History: Two Brits talk about topics from Waterloo to Watergate, Hannibal Barca to Hannibal Lector; Students of the Word: Corey Olson (the Tolkien Professor) goes off-topic to do a close reading of 1 John, scrying out the original Greek meanings with a special emphasis on prepositions and conjunctions. Fun for the catastrophically curious.

  2. I know we need to listen to, and address, the problems facing the world right now but here’s something funny: last Tuesday was National Tapioca Day. On my way to work a couple of DJs were talking about it. One remembered having tapioca as a girl. The other insisted it’s “made from stuff you skim off a swimming pool”. I sent a message to say I like tapioca and also to put in a two-fer Tuesday request. I didn’t hear anything and assumed they didn’t have time to get to my message. Then the next day the DJ who likes tapioca read my message and said how much she liked it. The other DJ said “I’m not playing any requests from someone who likes tapioca” but they played a couple of Kinks songs back to back anyway.

  3. I remember when a hipster might comment: Our mayor is a real cool cat. Now it would be really true on his interesting community path. Thanks for the example, Ann.

  4. I’m all in on the cats for mayor. we all know they are really the ones in charge
