Day 4580: Finding the Right Words

Here and now, I’m working on finding the right words for today’s blog post.

If I’m too focused on finding the right words, I might hesitate to communicate complex thoughts and feelings.

Often I’m finding the right words as I go along. I try to let go of too much judgment about what the right words and wrong words are.

Before I have an important interaction with someone, I spend some time finding the right words, but then I try to have faith in my ability to find good enough words in the moment.

Will we be finding the right words in my images for today?

.

Do you think the Daily Bitch is finding the right words?

Here’s what I find when I search for “finding the right words” on YouTube.

.

Now I’m finding the right words to end this post.

  1. I don’t think it’s the wrong words for me to answer Bruce Springsteen.,Ann.

  2. Mary Oliver.

  3. You always seem to find the right words, Ann. And Michael seems to always find the right ingredients for supper!

I second Ruth and Gandalf. Very nearly added Tolkien myself, but would have wanted to say more about him. And the poem R&G shared is one that I think of often. The very right words in the lines “I listen for returning feet and voices at the door,” often bring me close to tears now that I live so far away from all of those who once crossed my threshold. All I have to do is picture Jack or Jeanie, Esther or Brandon, or dear Emily, surprising me with birthday cake and champagne one mid-February afternoon, to be filled with longing for yesterday to return. And here come the tears …

  5. I always loved the poetry of the children

  6. At one time I would have said Dylan Thomas was my favorite poet. When I was sixteen I wrote a poem and my mother said it sounded like him. That led to me eventually going to his home in Wales. I feel very lucky to have met Nikki Giovanni, and Yusef Komunyakka. The older I get the more I admire Emily Dickinson. And Dorothy Parker.
I forget who said poetry is the right words in the right order and you write a lot of poetry too, Ann.

  7. Thanks for always finding the right words, Barbara.
